Now the players are making a statement, well, the Leeds players are. :)

A rare occasion where most people are probably more bothered about the post match interview than the game itself

Something is afoot. Big lay bet went in on Man City to win the PL and now the exchange is mysteriously down...
The £1m trade at 1.01 went through Sunday afternoon when the price was Back 1.01/Lay 1.02.

Sounds like they timed this while there's no fans in the stadium? Because the backlash would be immense.

And the timing with Jose getting sacked a week before he gets a chance to win a trophy for Spurs? That's just brutal. I dislike the guy but that's absolute savagery :|
Absolutely spot on re: crowds/backlash.
Afraid I disagree re: Jose. I really wanted him to rediscover his charm. But he ran out of time. And it's been going on for a while. A great shame though. And worse still for him, toddling off to manage Portugal might be completely pointless if UEFA ban ESL players.

How can Tottenham seriously be considered among Europe's elite?

They last won the league in 1961. Huddersfield Town have won the league more times than Spurs.

The Tottenham website proudly lists the Norwich and Ipswich Hospital Charity Cups among their honours!! https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/the-cl ... b-honours/

Money?
What also now occurs to me is SIX premier league teams in this new league SIX out of 20. Six out of the 15 guaranteed places. What's that all about?
What about Bundesliga, La Liga, Lique 1 etc etc.
It makes me think that this has been motivated by the Premier League model. After all the Premier is in the top 4 sports leagues, revenue-wise.
But none of that matters to me, no relegation/promotion is a non-starter.

I guess if someone came to you and said you have part of £6 billion every year with no threat of relegation and can buy the best players with never a loss in income then 99.9% of business people would snap it up in a second.

But it’s just not football as we know it and probably never will be in the future.

Apparently, young people are no longer interested in football, according to the Real Madrid president!

It sounds as though the motivation is to clear the debts of the big clubs with a closed shop set up. The NFL could be used as an example.

If they want to win over the fans, then the cost of attendiing a game has to drop significantly. In the NFL, the average is around $100!

Will the TV media be champing at the bit? Not sure about that one. JPMorgan may have to extend the $3.5billion set up provision.

The premier league teams, the small 14, will be like a feeder system to the super league. (as will all those league teams not in the final 20 - 2 groups of ten))

Also, where the proposed teams are, compared to each other(s).

And they've never won the European cup along with Man City and Arsenal

Spurs are the ESL equivalant of the rich, fat kid who always gets picked last, then put in goal. Only allowed to play because it's his football.

Like I said... This shouldn't come as a shock seeing what the Americans tried to do to the 94 WC. We have allowed venture capitalists into our game and now collectively the top 6 owners have a stranglehold on our game. But every player agent and manager needs to take collective responsibility for this. They were praising these owners to the hilt whilst taking fat wages. Simon Jordan said the same on talksport.

I recall Frank lampard singing Romans name on the pitch after winning the league iirc. Jurgen klopp said he thought it was rubbish but words like that are easy when it's unlikely it's going to happen and its well into the future. His interview last night after the game was him basically choking on the awkwardness of his own position. All of these managers KNEW what was happening.

Levy may have sacked Jose but he was still in bed with him and managers talk. They all knew about this and said DICK!!!!!! These owners knew there would be a backlash but they don't care. They are business hard and will stare this down. Its what they do.

They don't care about the fans. Football is a global game and there are 8 billion people on this planet with the population increase in Asia far outstripping Europe. They will probably play games on other continents where the revenue produced per game will be far higher. They don't care about 54k in the etihad or 60k loyal arsenal fans when people all over the world will clamour to see these games.

The demand for these teams globally is really high hence why united went on so many Asian tours years ago. This isn't a shock. Something like this was inevitable

MNF last night was entertaining but didn't ask the right questions for me, like where's the money coming from? Initial reports stated it was going to be bankrolled by DAZN, they've come out and distanced themselves from it. Without the financial backing this doesn't happen so maybe reporters/pundits should focus on that rather than trying to prove they're more outraged than than the last guy. When Carra was calling for everyone to mobilise I half expected a recorded message from Donald Trump for football fans to march on the capitol

The more you look at the facts the more it just seems like posturing to get a better deal. UEFA and the other governing bodies have a real opportunity here to clip the wings of these clubs not just now but for years to come. They need to stand their ground and call the Super 12's bluff but if they concede anything this will just keep happening whenever there's proposed changes to the Champions League.

IF it did go ahead I don't think it would be a viable product long term, people will probably tune in to start with but after a few seasons they'd get fed up of watching these teams play each other again and again. It might be sexy to start with but like a family where the men marry their hot cousins, after a few generations the cousins are no longer hot and some will grow humps and extra toes, nobody wants to see that!
