Royal Ascot - 2023
Thank fuck that's over.
The Internet was shit so lost 1200 2nd race, but overall won 24k before exps, so about 16k net.
Anyone can buy the pitch off me for 100k.
//
Spoke to a lad who worked in a pub 'Ascot Day' thursday, friday. The landlord charge 65 quid a head. 29 quid for a chicken in a basket worth a fiver.
He got 150 mugs to come in. I supplied the kid with betting equipment - he took 8k over the 2 days and won 2200.
He said it was v hard graft - every king canute comes up wanting 2 quid ew with a 20 pound note - never know the horse number - and are likely
pissed by the end of the day.
Its the entertainment industry // you cant snap at them - but its v hard to keep yourself in check.
//
Saw a tweet somewhere that you would have turned a profit if u had backed every horse in every race this week (probably considerably more at BSp)
Would be a great yes/no market for festivals (Will 1 GBP staked on every horse, show a profit)

I am hearing and seeing more and more black market punting going on. I suppose it was inevitable with the affordability checks and all that. Theres a bloke in my local most Saturdays, and over whatsapp alsomegarain wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 9:33 am

Pub where I drink the landlord has started taking bets after some advice from his good friend He told me he wished he'd of thought and done this years ago. He's now putting on free snacks on for big meetings. Had a free BBQ for Royal Ascot yesterday with the weather being nice, gets the punters betting and supping for minimal cost of a few burgers and sausages.Archangel wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 11:47 amI am hearing and seeing more and more black market punting going on. This is the same problem as with illegal drugs, govt popularism forcing people to buy crap on the streets which just feeds the wronguns rather than having any degree of quality control and protection. Good luck getting paid out when some shady fckr just says jog on.
The only one likely to complain about the landlord is the local bookie who is paying all compliance / licence expenses etc.
As more and more LBO's close, its hard not to see a great deal more unlicensed betting in these places.

I wonder how smart the World Pool money is and whether they could be something to be had in there? 17.5% takeout probably difficult to overcome.

My understanding from their investor briefings is that they operate on a 20% margin with some syndicates getting a discount.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 12:11 pm
