All speculation at the moment. I've offered to speak to them to help clarify any points or mis-understandings their may be on either side, but as they haven't taken that up I guess I will have to stew on it till early next week. If there is some new definition of avoidance then I think it would be worth some clarity from Betfair on what exactly that definition is.

I feel sorry for you Peter, can't say how that would feel.
To be fair to Betfair, I'm not going to post on the blog until the situation is clarified I told the press the same as well. It may be that I can't even comment then, but I think we should give them a chance.
I have to praise your behaviour, you did very well.

This is really shocking stuff! Didn't see it coming...

Don't let it throw you off stride though guys, just because I can't do anything doesn't mean you can't rip through the markets this weekend! ;)

I'll be sure to post up what happens and why they did this so other people know why this has happened. Disappointed that the first I knew was when my bets started failing. I can't even view my P&L to see what happened in the market I was on at the time.

Hi
After all the business you have driven to them with your software. and being on telly and so on, this is how they treat you, really they are not nice people,
they dont deserve any business,

Just read this post...sorry to hear the news.
In Any other industry, key accounts would have an Account manager appointed, where matters could be sorted out quickly. Not Betfair.

It almost stops free speech against Betfair in fear that your account too might be suspended..Anyone who has a username on here that is their real name may want to register again under an alias!

P.C avoidance is the Befair equivalent of the bookies accusing you of arbing.

I suspect it going to happen to allot of people in the comeing weeks.

I went on holiday for a month to Ireland, I went a couple days after the super tax was announced and got back Tuesday. I can’t believe what betfair have done in a month.

Now they suspend Mr Webb.

I don’t know about anyone else but it was Peters free bet angel grid I suppose got into trading proper. He probably directly introduced hundreds/thousands of people to trading and hence profit for betfair, and possibly hundreds/thousands more indirectly from people trying various other vendors products and ending up with using bet angel (not to mention his courses, interviews, trade shows etc). All promoting betunfair.

They should be putting him on a pinnacle, dripping over him, doing everything they can to keep him sweet. 1% commission Mr Webb, free Cheltenham gold cup tickets Mr Webb, free fa cup final tickets mr Webb and helicopter home.

Let's look on the bright side: -

When Betfair give me a response we will be much wiser on what exactly 'premium charge avoidance' is and how they now classify it. Or they will say, 'oops' and it isn't a bad as it seems. The fact they shot first and asked questions later indicates the former is going to happen. It will be beneficial for the whole community because, in my view, I haven't done anything that breaks their terms and conditions. So getting clarity on how they are going to enforce them should help everybody.

And my second positive is, it's another first for me on Betfair!

I can't really add much to the debate as it stands until Betfair decide they actually want to discuss the matter with me. At the moment I am completely clueless on what is happening. The only thing I know is I can't do anything on Betfair so I am going to get on with other things for the moment.

Loads of good sport around this weekend, so get stuck in and don't worry about something that hasn't happened yet.

I sent Betfair an email yesterday:

I read on Twitter that Peter Webb has had his account suspended.

I know you can't comment on another user's account, but I have to wonder whether he's been suspended because he's so successful. I find this worrying, as I don't want to spend lots of time learning to be profitable on Betfair, only to have the rug pulled from under me.

Can you assure me that Betfair doesn't suspend the accounts of customers just because they're successful?

This was their reply:

To re-assure you, we will not suspend accounts if they are simply successful. Accounts may get suspended for suspected fraud, integrity reasons, premium charge avoidance, etc but not if an account is simply profitable.

To be fair to Betfair Jeff, that reassurance is much more than you will get from Betdaq, where it says in the Betdaq rules that they will basically suspend or terminate any account for any reason they feel like. Out of the frying pan (Betfair) and into the fire (Betdaq) ?

Sorry to hear this Peter but was it on the cards?

Betfair just don’t want you as a customer end off!!

As for people saying that you have bought millions or hundreds of thousands to Betfair I don’t think so chaps, thousand’s yes.

I hope your accounts get restored ASAP.

This is all due to the fact that Betfair employ people to trade on their behalf.

Don't know about you, but it doesn't reasure me in any way  , alot of bookmakers don't close winning accounts either, they just restrict you and be as Awkward as Possible untill you make the decision yourself.

Well of cause he has, most companies would insure Peter was very well looked after, but not Betfair.

Jeff

The rug has been pulled with the new PC charge which will be reduced from 250.000 down over the next few years.
