Betfair API Down
yes, it is a cautionary tale (albeit a fairly irregular occurrence) in limiting your exposure IP. That said, 75% of my strats are based on IP, so is a strong note to self!!Consty1 wrote:Feel sorry for the people who had big positions open in the IPL match. These days don't most companies have mirrored operations so if one fails the other picks up instantly?Euler wrote:Back in 1996 when I worked for an ISP we had generators to fall over in the event of a power outage. Guess they don't need them in 2016
Also surely the data centre has back up supply. It is very common in a lot of industries to have this. I remember once in my Cadet days going to an RAF base - christ alive I have never seen such a large room and filled with what appeared to be car batteries!
Even I have fall over power supply these days just so I don't lose my work if there is a power cut!
yup -if it smells of &*£$, then in all reality, the talk is $%^&. I watch with (groaning) interest... oh wait, i know what s. I've put into service a new live bot that places a few £50 bets per market... I've obviously overloaded the system (and the grid) - lolPeterLe wrote:I really cant beieve that it is down to a power outage!!
High Availability clusters are very common these days (and relatively cheap)!
Just dont believe that (and if it is true then the CIO wants shooting!)
