A lot of backers out today. All my lays are getting snapped up but my back bets seem to sit at the front of the queue for eternity.

Yes, I've avoided Lingfield but made a few quid at Chepstow.

For some reason I find the flat racing easier to scalp, even low quality all weather races just can't put my finger on why

I guess there's slightly less 'on the day' variables (ie the going, the fences on that particular course etc).
Variables cause movement so perhaps with all other things being equal, that might explain why it's a tad smoother, or not?

Don't know if you saw Milly Baloo crash through the wings in the 15:30 Catt.

Reminded me of See More Business crashing through the wings at Cheltenham, I remember it because I'd had a 4 figure bet on ....ended up being my last ever 'proper' bet.

Maybe you racing aficionados could tell me when that was and what race? Gold Cup '98 ish ?

I remember Cyborgo being pulled up and carrying out See More Business in the 1998 Gold Cup ?

I also remember the days when those plastic posts that jockeys so often crash into were made of concrete!

Mmm I looked at that and I wasn't sure that was the one. I obviously remember the loss more than the actual race. Now if I can just find my spreadsheets for 98 onwards I might be able to put a date on it.

Thanks for trying Derek.

I thought I would have remembered such a high-profile horse crashing through the wings but I've had a look at his record and there doesn't seem to be such an incident.

Derek27 & Shaun
It was the season 1997-98
It's on the 19th March 1998 The Gold Cup- where it says CO - Carried Out
McCoy had to pull a lame Cyborgo up but had nowhere to go , and basically lugged out in front of SMB
resulting in the horse crashing through.

Are you sure?

I haven't searched for video footage but off memory, McCoy felt Cyborgo's back-end lose action, pulled him outwards in an emergency just before a fence down the back straight, and cleanly took See More Business off the course before they got to the fence ?

Yes - very sure - unless it happened in another race with these two!!
Read the comments Derek - Just before the 7th Fence - Cyborgo Pulled Up lame
and SMB carried out
Indian Tracker was the other horse affected
