Welby resigns, and good riddance to him. To think an apology makes up for ruining over 100 lives.

Absolute disgrace of a human being, never mind a church leader!

Welby was either following the concept of forgiveness or protecting a pal.
The former is laudable but naive for someone of his status and experience.
The latter is utter nepotism.

It's not the money, it's the feel-good factor. Just like my Big Mac & fries for £2.99. :D
Hadn't had a Mac (burger) for about 40 years so when the need and opportunity recently presented itself I though why not. Wished I hadn't but glad I did! I wouldn't take their burger if they gave them away! But I'm glad I got one, at least I know I didn't miss anything by not having one in the last 40 years! I would say their breakfast offerings are good ... why oh why not all day instead of stopping them at 11:00!?

My last McDonalds 2017 was along a walk from Leith Links to Portobello. Circumstances dictated I really needed a walk and had no other food option. The Mac fitted that bill. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than constant standard. McD are very hot on standards. That's the point. You know what you are going to get, so buy it or don't.

I am actually quite a fan, I have a quarter pounder meal with an apple pie, every two or three weeks at home.

We eat the meal, no washing up and the rubbish straight in the recycling bin perfect.

Well I was rather expecting those standards might have improved over the last 40 years so I didn’t know what I was going to get.

I'm certain you and I can beat the quality of McD. But not in anything like the timescale or convenice of my walk.

But you raise a good point a burger is a blank page. You can add flavourings to your hearts content.
Basic mince will do as the base, but raise the bar to venison or premium beef and it really transcends it's modest reputation.
Oniions, chilli, parsley, herbs, garlic (if you're daring) even ketchup (seriously). I tried Jamie Oliver's burger and was disappointed by it's blandness Oliver! bland? Doesn't often happen.

I collect ludicrous reviews and nonsensical answers to prospective customers' questions, mostly from Amazon. Starting with a review of a pack of bacon:

review by Aaron T.
2/1/2019
Worst bacon I've ever had. 8/10

Someone's very helpfully answered every question about a dashboard camera:

Question:
This camera can recording HD video?
Answer:
Bought as a Christmas gift so it's as yet unopened. Don't know, sorry.
Question:
Is rear window does it record back window
Answer:
Bought as a Christmas gift so it's as yet unopened. Don't know, sorry.
Question:
Dose this come with a sd card
Answer:
Bought as a Christmas present, we've not opened the box so don't know. Sorry.

And a rather confusing review of a book:

5.0 out of 5 stars A true classic!
23 September 2014
Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase
I am in no way competent to evaluate this book………

Sometimes you read stuff that gives you no hope we will survive as a species. Thankfully they are a tiny minority.

Just watching an episode of The Likely Lads. An old dear says "I'm 68 and still got me own teeth". This is circa 74?

You may see more of this. I'm not sure of the detail but I noticed recently that Amazon are grading the reviewers and if you are in the top grade as a reviewer they reward you with free items to review (and you keep them). Maybe this reviewer thought showing willingness helped them up the grading ladder! :)

Discharged from hospital and feeling much better. :D

As usual though, they kept me waiting in the ward for five hours while the executives of the trust held a board meeting over their decision.

Absolutely furious when I got home to find my sister, who had been staying at my flat earlier, had not just cleaned and tidied up but completely reorganised my kitchen and parts of my living room. Couldn't find anything and spent the entire night putting everything back! But what could I say? She travelled all the way up from London and took the cat back with her to be looked after.

Spent time in hospital writing spreadsheet/database code to calculate expert fees. Made the assumption that I'd be placing at least one bet a week, but halfway through January and yet to trade my first market of the year, I'll have to rewrite that. :)
