I didn't trade much in January, but having traded fully the past two days it feels like there is a fairly powerful bot at work with a big bank behind it.
Interesting the same characteristics often appear like the price pushing forward three ticks with force then back again with force and within a price within a region. If you hold your nerve I am sure you can profit, although I've struggled the past two days.
Two further thoughts, it wouldn't surprise me of the bot disappears at some point like others that have gone before it and also I know I am guilty of over trading. I am expecting something from set-ups that can't actually give me much back right now. The markets don't know I've taken a break from trading for a month, I can't expect them to be ready and waiting for me as I want them to be.
Today's Horse Racing
Icarus121 do what I do. Look at other sports, some of us are bloody useless at trading Horse racing, scalping is possible, but trading is for the bots and specialists.
I have tried trading horseracing but usually fail miserably. Other sports I'm good at. You might be the same, find what suits your style.

As it stands now I think now more than ever you need to have a reason to enter the trade with a clear exit plan.
Taking a speculative position sometimes means you get caught, especially if you use tight exit points. Unless you are very, very good that is.
Take you time and don't rush in. Remember you don't have to have an open position all the time, you don't have to trade ever race. Wait for the opportunities, they become obvious - then step in and help yourself.
Off the top of my head there were 3 or 4 races yesterday that we very easy. That's all you need. Think the biggest mistake for many is the obsession with trading every single race. You can only do that once you understand the markets. Like Peter said in another thread. One size does not fit all. Different shapes of race need different strategies.

You might already know this Steve (I don't know how experienced you are) but Meydan races tend to attract very low liquidity compared to UK racing generally so the card will likely be far less liquid than even Irish cards, though could pick up a bit from normal I guess if the coverage is good
I know it's usually poor, but often when there are only a few meetings on punters/traders tend to look for other markets so I was wondering if people maybe attracted to Meyden.
I remember a few years back when the snow came the liquidity on the greyhounds was huge.

I actually believe you can trade every market at any time but it does obviously depend upon what you do.
I know I'm vocal about the shennanigans going on in the horse races preoff, but its for a reason.
The beauty of bots is they tend to do the same thing all the time and therefore they are actually quite predictable (once you enter money) and easy to take money off. I don't really play about on horses much though as i dont agree with what is happening on uk markets. Saying thatol, I've had a play the last couple of days and done okay.
So as i said earlier, cracking the horses isn't the secret to instant success on bf as there are also 1000s of Footy games a week for starters.

anyone else think that racing in heavy ground is great entertainment?
it's a shame meetings get abandoned cos of rain. couldn't they just bypass the obstacles and run them as NHF races?

I agree about them being great entertainment. Just like when watching a football match when the players are ankle deep in mud or trying to run through a blizzard!
I'm sure they could just get rid of the fences in some cases, but I suppose many trainers wouldn't like it for various reasons
