General Election 2019 (UK)
Here's a thought. How many of us know our MP, or other candidates in an election. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the media provided accurate information and all of us ensured we absorbed that information. I think that would result in correct voting decisions.

On the trading front, I've heard arguments for and against the turnout figure. But as it's such an emotive debate, I'm thinking the turnout will be higher than expected?
On the flip side, it's cold, dark and Christmas. Betfair have their works do on election day, for example.

My MP lived a few streets from me. But when I moved I'm about 50 feet inside the next boundary so he is no longer my MP! He was a good old fashioned local MP.

Please, please tell me that you're being sarcastic. I'd fear for your mental health if you were being sincere.

I have never gone to discuss an issue with my MP. I'm now thinking everybody should try to do that. Evidently its impossible for an MP to meet their electorate, supporters and opponents. But then this is probably my niavety. In what scenario would an MP engage with someone with no power, except for one vote?
If your issue is serious or close to your MP's heart, he/she will fight for it passionately, else they'll just go through the motions of writing a letter and sending you the bullshit reply.greenmark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:58 pmI have never gone to discuss an issue with my MP. As far as I know all MPs used to hold regular open surgeries for anyone to go along to, until Jo Cox was murdered.greenmark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:58 pmI have never gone to discuss an issue with my MP. Corbyn on BBC QT came across very well.
No matter how nice he comes across, I would have still asked where does he want to locate the Gulag equivalent in the UK.

He does make things difficult for himself. If he just said if asked again, that he'd be happy to deploy a nuclear missile and kill a million people a lot of people who fear him would feel safer, the session would quickly move on and it would all be forgotten about.
