Well if you think you're having a bad day..

I've had my worst day for well over two year (-300)
I was trading manually earlier in the day (and doing well), but had to do some work and left a semi auto BOT running for a few hours unaware that I'd left a box ticked..
The safety net kicked in at -300 or it could have been a lot worse
The thing thats bothering me is that Im not really that bothered?? After PC its not too bad..and Ill make it back

I suppose the following formula is true

Trading + working <>Success !

IMHO i find relying on the bomber is lazy trading, you are relying on sombody else to produce you a winning position rather than you read the market and make your own judgement. Sometimes people have been caught on the wrong side of this guy and have been blown out of the water with a bigger loss than they expected. I force prices sometimes only if i think my judgement of the market is correct, but i will never follow a trend the bomber creates because his created it for himself, when you follow it the tide will correct itself with the crowd and eat you with it

bomber can give u some of your best results trading, when bomber is around i can never understand why any trader would lay the fav before bomber enters the market

I agree, I love bomber.

As for trading when these big meetings are on I think I will avoid trading during the day and just stick to the night meetings after, tonights markets are a lot better than this afternoons

Has anyone else noticed the api becomming sticky over the last couple of hours or so? It feels as if there may be a crash on the horizon but could just be at my end

Card looks OK at Ascot today a right mixture of stuff, so you should be able to find something in there. The other courses don't look particulary interesting at the start of the day but get a bit better later on. I'd imagine the early races outside of Ascot will be a bit tricky so I'm most likely going to duck those and focus on Ascot.

i gave up on ascot yesterday, it just moved so slow...took ages to get matched then ages to move a couple of ticks. Think i will just watch it instead...mind you , last week i made a mistake by listening to the presenter on atr, matt someone...and he was saying how this horse was so good, top trainer, top jockey and if he was going to back a horse, this would be the one. He sounded very knowledgable...so he influenced me and i let it go in play. From the start, it drifted badly and lost the race....so a lesson learnt to keep the volume down on atr...or at least try not to listen to him!

that is a good idea dmbusa...i wonder how many viewers put on bets as a result of his comments thinking they are listening to a racing guru?! Since then I've noticed he isn't any good at all!

Peter have a look at your p&l on 07-May-11. It might be one of your best day in the last two years. And now you called 20.06.13 the worst. Now can you see the link between these two days??? ;)

Hi G
Im intrigued!
Ive just checked my records from the 7th May 2011. It was a good day overall. The best race of the day for me was the 14:50 at Ascot (Horse : Law of the Range), I took a good three figures from that race alone. There was another couple of races that day at Punchtown 14:30 and Ascot 16:35 that I also did very well on, both three figures.
However that month wasn't my best month or in the top five?
The 20th June was my own fault. I was working on a scalping bot and left one of the toggle switches switched on (with no auto greening!), so thats the reason it was that bad.
My best ten months ever on Betfair were directly after XM was switched on on the 23rd Nov, after that it tailed off slowly to my average today.
Although if you look at the BDP web page they display the algorithm; Im convinced that they have tinkered with it!
Anyway, Im not complaining, nothing stands still forever, as Sam Wilson said "Adapt and Survive!"
Im curious now though G, what was your thinking?
Regards
Peter

Well it is the Siberian Tiger. On 7.05.11 the horse touched 1000 in running. I thought you caught a bit of high odds that day. On 20.06.13 he came second.

Anybody else find it hard today? I had a particularly brutal loss from being biased towards a favourite drifting on account of being near a crossover and that turned out to be a disaster, and whenever I scalped I just racked up consistant small losses.

With swing trading it's my own fault, cutting profits short so they don't pay for the losers and that bias when really I should have backed.

But with scalping the money is false all the time, or fill rates unequal, the result of either being losses, if you work with making/losing one tick. Also seemed impossible to scratch.

Any feedback appreciated.
