Thanks "small fry" like I said, getting there takes time, its painful and costly. But once you work out which markets you are suited to, it becomes easy.
After that its just a matter of adjusting your stakes to the liquidity of the market you're in.

Going back to the op.
I am / was full time depending on what people's definition is
.
Ive always had other incomes and have always been self employed, but for 6 or 7 years i sat in front on my pc trading Betfair for most of the day
.
Recently because of doubt over sports tradings future, I have got more and more into the automation side, this is the reason i rarely post on the forums these days,
im off doing other things now.
I think it was the right choice for me as althoe automation makes me a fraction of what i can do for myself.
i now at least have more free time to do other things and plan for the future without the need for Betfair

I'd considered that approach myself, but what holds me back is that I would have to either:freddy wrote: I have got more and more into the automation side
A. Learn programming language(s) - Whilst that sounds fun and it's something that can only enhance my non-trading career prospects, I imagine it's extremely time consuming.
B. Pay someone to program a bot for me, which runs the risk of them using the bot themselves and diminishing or even eliminating my edge.

I'm a complete newcomer to trading and this forum but I've picked up on this post as it echos the general concensus towards sports arbitrage which is what I do and have been for the last 9 years full time."Can't be done" "bookmakers ban you" ect all rubbish, just because you can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done,I'm sure if you are smart enough trading FT is perfectly viable.
