He could be singing about anything but obviously GBNews will try and spin it so the thick Reform voters think he's mocking taxpayers. In his situation we'd all do the same and go where the money is, good luck to him.
UK taxpayers have got no problem with that... as long as they do it 'legally'

The title of this thread will become more and more appropriate as we pass through summer to the next budget!

One third of births in England and Wales last year were to overseas mothers, official figures show. Some 32 per cent of children were born to non-UK-born mothers in 2023, the highest proportion since records began in 2001, when the figure was 17 per cent. 🐇

What is an "overseas mother"? I really don't know.

Wow, what a surprise, not a single "Excuse" from the Libour supporters re the election results. I had at least expected a "wrong type of democracy" comment or maybe even a 'forgive them Lord, they know not what they vote for ... like Brexit, we tried to educate them'!

But what I loved more than the results was NF's comment that in the councils now controlled by Reform those working in the 'Climate' and 'Diversity' departments should start looking for other jobs! This result marks the return of common-sense government.

I took it to be really good news as clearly the current UK population is unable to generate enough kids to support all the old codgers in the UK.. Aging population and all that... And I wouldn't be surprised if a large proportion of those overseas mothers are working in the NHS or Care roles.

Suppose at one point (in the dim & distant past) almost almost births in UK were from "overseas" mothers but bet that doesn't count...

Good to see you back Greenmark )

Not wanting to gate-crash another's conversation but I would have thought it obvious and not warrant clarification ... I would suggest it means a mother who herself was born abroad.

How dim and distant? Roman occupation of GB? I doubt that, many 'overseas fathers' but I don't think they brought many women with them, preferring to rape the women already here. Likewise William in 1066. I can't think of a previous 'invasion' involving lots of women.

I was thinking very dim )

Come to think of it the UK was connected to the Continent by Doggerland before it all got swept away in a tsunami so maybe its moot and the UK, as an island, started at that point with whoever just happened to be alive after that event.

The original poster is of course missing out on stats regarding the overseas father having children with UK mothers as well - maybe that doesn't count in whatever point he is trying to make..

Anyhow, back to the trading !

North or South?

And I don't see FFS as being 'on about' anything ... he was just quoting facts published by the Government here so we all know what Labour is "on about", yes?
