My old laptop is still working and watching the perth 15.50 and the racing commentry is faster than the one-click screen - it's elephantine! As in one elephant, two elephant. Ooh! An update!!!

From thos nice people at BF
It looks like we’re having some problems with our API. Our Engineers are on the case. We’re sorry about this.

I only get to trade during the day once or twice a week...bad day to take a day off work.
Why dont we all just move to betdaq?

I'm amazed this doesn't happen more, we get so used to collossal amounts of traffic and complexity at breathtaking speeds, and expect it to be flawless.

No harm done, you don't trade online without a good DR strategy when you've lived through the era of 1200baud dial-up  .

Haven't tried Betdaq for a while. Is there enough liquidity to make it viable?

You ve got to have a back up to the API at the very least ,if the main site goes down
have the phone number handy

BETFAIR TEL NUMBER UK:
0844 871 5000

I love how you can apparently still place bets. You just can't see the odds or cancel any bets.

managed a good result on 16:15 with small stakes though

every bet should be persuaded to go into the market

just fyi I didn't have any problems with the Betfair being down, only the API.

BA had a worrying 'Placing bet' message though. I'd clicked a trade 2 or 3 times because I thought my mouse was dicky and was worried they'd all hit the market when the glitch cleared.

Would be nice to have a BA pop-up warning if it doesn't get a response from BF in the 'normal' timeframe with the option to clear any trades queued to send?

How is betfair still the top exchange that people go to? We have options with betdaq and the software to use it, also less comission to pay. Im not a full time trader but some day I want to be..I cant understand why especially with all the issues with betfair api..

I would guess the answer is liquidity Jerry
the ability to easily get your larger bets in and out of the market quickly...when the API works which is a high proportion of the time actually ..its just frustrating at the time

I understand its liquidity, surely if everyone moves to betdaq wont that improve liquidity,I know its not an easy thing but betfair dont seem to care about it..

I don't think the Betdaq API is much better MrJerryTwig.
If the Betdaq API falls down, and there's nobody there to hear it..... ;)
