Good news, maybe we will get someone who is more interested in football than politics. Football is our escape from reality, Gas bills, Electricity bills, Council tax, food bills, just a little break on Saturday or Sunday, or even midweek. Lets hope the newcomer is another Des Lynam a lovely non offensive bloke.
Today's Football
I don't mind Lineker personally, but I was thinking of posting to the happy corner.conduirez wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 9:08 pmGood news, maybe we will get someone who is more interested in football than politics. Can't remember the last time I watched it.
Show a few seconds of clips, then talk about how if the defender had blocked the cross there wouldn't have been a goal, for half an hour. Totally not kept up with the times.

Don't see problem with it tbh Referees get verbally abused by players and managers week in and week out and he's probably let off a bit of steam. Klopp was one of the worst offenders, he's certainly not a victim here nor are Liverpool.Kai wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:41 pmNearly 30mil views today on David Coote and climbing : https://x.com/Josh97LFC/status/1855968991119872392
Didn't expect such a shitstorm
Strange really because if that was any other job in the UK the managers and players would probably be sacked for the abuse they give referees, a referee lets off a bit of steam and he's suspended on the spot. Funny how football and sport in general gets a free pass from employment laws.
Imagine going into the office today and being surrounded, intimidated and verbally abused for a decision you made.
You don't see a problem allowing biased refs.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 7:11 amDon't see problem with it tbh Referees get verbally abused by players and managers week in and week out and he's probably let off a bit of steam. Except impartiality is literally in their job description. A ref has one job, to never leave irrefutable proof of their bias.
And this absolute moron talked straight into the camera and happily shared those clips, fully aware of all the risks. This astounding lack of judgement does not belong at the highest level of the game.
I agree. Complaining because Klopp had a habit of barking at officials doesn't really work for me.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:01 pmYou don't see a problem allowing biased refs.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 7:11 amDon't see problem with it tbh Referees get verbally abused by players and managers week in and week out and he's probably let off a bit of steam. Plenty of cases of managers going OTT and they've been cautioned, red--carded or recieved touchine bans if they do that.
Very unprofessional to carry his annoyance into the public domain.
Abuse for a ref goes with the job and that has been recognised and the power to sanction abuse is there.
Fair enough.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 3:09 pmSorry for the delay in responding but I will gladly challenge anybody to show me the rule that says I have to give my standing ground to an opponent.
Back in the day Souness was ready to take on Bowyer and Dyer in the dressing room when they got sent off for fighting each other. Depends how much age has mellowed him whether he would start flailing or reach for the rule book.....

There's no evidence he has been nothing but impartial when on the field, there's no evidence at all to show he has been biased on the field if there was he'd have been charged a long time ago. Referee's decisions on field are subjective but not biased. There's no criminal investigation into Coote influencing games either.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:01 pmYou don't see a problem allowing biased refs.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 7:11 amDon't see problem with it tbh Referees get verbally abused by players and managers week in and week out and he's probably let off a bit of steam. Most of it is fans are complaining because he doesn't like Klopp and quite frankly I can't blame him. Klopp is a fantastic tactical manager but a disgrace the way he behaves on the touch line bit like most but Klopp is especially guilty.
Looks like Coote is off to Saudi anyway, he's the real winner cashing right in.
You mean besides the 12.6% winrate drop for Liverpool whenever Coote was involved.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 8:06 amThere's no evidence he has been nothing but impartial when on the field, there's no evidence at all to show he has been biased on the field if there was he'd have been charged a long time ago.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:01 pmYou don't see a problem allowing biased refs.Michael5482 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 7:11 am

People are probably fooled by random variance then. Do they need to go quant mode and look at the confidence interval to explain those numbers then. Even I could already list his top 10 most baffling transgressions that had the biggest impact on the bottom line, not to mention knock down effects. How deep down the rabbit hole should people go. At what point should there be enough ground for lawsuits. Why not start looking at other refs too.
You're basically saying "it's fine, let him keep refereeing" just because you happen to agree with Coote and because Scousers are mostly universally hated anyway (which btw was the summary of the video by the other bellend), albeit nowhere nearly as much as refs.
In any case Coote is a lucky man when Darwin scored the 1st goal against Villa this weekend, after not giving a foul on Salah when he was clean through on goal and taken out. That would be a category 1 hurricane level shitstorm instead of this downplayed one, which is probably for the best.
No evidence that refs are biased and cover for each other at all, after Mike Dean openly on air admitting doing just that? We all knew they're biased one way or another, because they're both human AND incompetent, but we DON'T actually want to know this for sure, or the whole thing falls apart.
