I broke all my own rules on this test. Learning the hard way getting pushed around by the markets when I started out so well. Trying to multitask and being distracted. Allowing the market’s irrationality to affect my decision making. Overstaking. Holding positions too long. Chasing losses. All of it. Almost like I haven’t learned a damn thing all these months

I've been holding onto my draw lay - its been a pretty painful process...

You’ve got more patience than I do! England didn’t do themselves any favours batting on into that last session, so predictably the draw retracted yet again.sionascaig wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 9:30 amI've been holding onto my draw lay - its been a pretty painful process...

I don’t think I have the stomach for this.
Was initially holding $700 lay profit on the draw but watching it go down to 1.4 made me second guess myself and not only did I get out, I foolishly backed it at that level only to watch it do a complete 180.
So now instead of a $700 profit that would be mostly realised by now, I’m staring at a $700 loss.
I don’t know why but test cricket seems so much harder because I have so much time to second guess myself. Whereas T20 you’re in and out and know straight away.
Is this just a learning curve? Because I feel like a complete idiot, when a week ago I was feeling quite competent. It seems so easy but when the market is so crazy pricing things it makes me crazy and I am losing confidence in my abilities. Doesn’t feel like progress at all.

It wasn't a case of England not doing themselves any favours, it was a case of many punters not understanding Test Cricket (sorry).abgespaced wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 11:45 amYou’ve got more patience than I do! To win at Test Cricket you not only have to manage the runs//wickets you also have to manage the time. I once had great difficulty explaining this to an American at an airport bar!
Last night Root decided he had enough runs to win but to do so he also had to take their 10 wickets. So he didn't want to declare too early because that would mean more overs with the ball last night meaning his bowlers would have an older ball when they came to bowl this morning. His main priority was to only have a few overs last night so that the ball was still newish and hard this morning when the bowlers were fresh so he instructed his batsmen not to get out and he would choose his time to declare and maximise his use of the ball. It also had the effect of adding to the wear on the pitch and tiring India more by keeping them in the field for longer. He also wanted to give himself a reasonable number of overs today with the new ball if it was needed in the final session.

It makes sense. I was just hearing so many negative things about England’s attack that I had no confidence in them to take those 10 wickets. In the end they did it easy. In just a little over 2 sessions I believe. So it’s a learning curve. To trust the deterioration of the pitch to do its thing and not to listen too much to the puntersfirlandsfarm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:16 pmLast night Root decided he had enough runs to win but to do so he also had to take their 10 wickets. This is a v interesting game.
Lunch Day 2 - Windies 325-6
Bang 4.2
Windies 2.54
Draw 2.68
Windies expected run line about 406
I suspect Draw will trade shorter and am waiting with some ammo to lay, but def not yet.

Insane price movement on Bangladesh from 9 into 3.5 after the last 4 wickets. Makes no sense to me as WI were always on track to make 400 and nothing changed.
