Fuck it, Darwin has to start from now on and try to rebuild his confidence, his last chance basically
This false 9 alternative with Diaz lacks cutting edge half the time, an incredible display of wastefulness yet again
Today's Football
Tough crowd.
They have been worked out but most teams won't be good enough to make them pay. It will be interesting in the later stages of the champions league against the more dynamic teams. I am not sure they will fare too well. But more than happy to be proved wrong. They got the big goal. Normally in a title winning season the centre back gets a crucial goal. It was set up for that.
Doesn't look like they will need a points buffer for the rest of the league though. Is he good enough to start? would be a big call. Super sub role I would think as Slot needs to bed in some sort of cutting edge from elsewhere if Salah is not scoring. So looking forward to Champs league.
He's probably finished under Slot either way, he's overly emotional and loses confidence too easily. The complete opposite of what you want in a composed finisher, under a ruthless coach with a controlling playstyle. But you could see why Klopp would want a player like that to suit his emotional football built around transitions.henbet22 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 11:17 pmDoesn't look like they will need a points buffer for the rest of the league though. All the issues I raised and listed several weeks ago remain unresolved and they've allowed them to worsen, so the mood around the club is not as great as it should be considering the standings.
An average player with striker's instincts would suffice for Slot against these low blocks, but unfortunately this clashes with the club's penny-pinching policy! They're far too busy lowballing their stars with contract offers.
It's about the nett gain isn't it? Carlos was brilliant. TAA can drop a pass to create a goal. But it's now evident he can't defend. What amazes me is that he hasn't improved. I played sport for 30 years and you learn from every game. TAA is so intelligent with his forward passing it baffles me why he is so dumb at defending. It's like his brain switches on for attack and off for defence. Sorry this subject annoys me.... if he sorted out his defending then he would definitely be off to Madrid.

Agreed. Darwin didn't have a good game at all IMO. The only impressive thing I remember him doing was the way he took the second goal, but you would have expected any decent striker to score. He wasted several chances by shooting high into the crowd from distance, and should have had 2 or even 3 yellow cards.Kai wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 1:15 pmHe's probably finished under Slot either way, he's overly emotional and loses confidence too easily. Meanwhile the leftback position is by far the biggest weakness in that team
Those few instances sum him up entirely, it's why I called him an idiot here sometimes, even though it's usually linked to his decision-making when finishing.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 1:37 pmHe wasted several chances by shooting high into the crowd from distance, and should have had 2 or even 3 yellow cards.
He JUST got back from a suspension last match (where he could've scored the winner too) and what does he do? Takes off his shirt soon as he scores and goes flying into tackles afterwards

Driven entirely by emotion, must be an absolute nightmare to manage.
My thoughts exactly.
But look at Everton now. Transformed in the blink of an eye. The players have a great responsibiity and Spurs seem to flip from brilliant to abject.
