UK General Election **June 8th**
I bet the Army is really happy about supporting the Police.
Don't make a mistake though lads as you might find the same Police arresting you for manslaughter or maybe murder.
Heads of state don't need to worry though as they are very well protected, unlike their citizens who are not allowed to carry anything for personal protection.

What would you carry to protect yourself from an idiot with a suicide vest packed with nails, nuts and bolts?cybernet69 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 10:52 am

I'd defend myself with an A4 pad, because according to some, the way to win is through reason and discussion.mjmorris335 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 11:02 amWhat would you carry to protect yourself from an idiot with a suicide vest packed with nails, nuts and bolts?

I guarantee you, the moment he sees my 200 sheets of lined paper, he will see the error of his ways
Probably nothing in that situation. But if I saw someone wielding a knife, gun or sword then I would like the option of shooting him dead rather than waiting for the Police to turn up.mjmorris335 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 11:02 amWhat would you carry to protect yourself from an idiot with a suicide vest packed with nails, nuts and bolts?cybernet69 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 10:52 am

In regard to your question then I probably wouldn't have let his family enter the country from Libya in the first place.
It's been reported that he was already known to the security forces, so, what for ?

Well, facetiousness aside, that is where it has to start. You can't argue with a suicide bomber, so a bullet to the brain would be my preferred option in that case. It probably wouldn't stop the bomb detonating though; a dead man's switch will take care of that.LeTiss wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 11:05 amI'd defend myself with an A4 pad, because according to some, the way to win is through reason and discussion.mjmorris335 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 11:02 amWhat would you carry to protect yourself from an idiot with a suicide vest packed with nails, nuts and bolts?

What we need to do is ban the teaching of all religion in all schools and replace it with lessons in critical thinking and reasoning. The sooner kids around the world are disabused of the notion of an imaginary friend, the sooner we can make some progress dealing with the rest of this shit.

As a keen shooter and FAC holder I have always found it strange that you don't need to show ones license when buying smokeless powder but you do for gunpowder.
Apparently the reason is that gunpowder is volatile but smokeless powder isn't.
And for those that don't know, smokeless powder is used in firearm ammunition. It's extremely explosive, obviously.

The problem with this is - and you only have to look across the pond to bear it out - is that the weapon then gets used for other stuff.cybernet69 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 11:11 amProbably nothing in that situation. There has been a spate of robberies by scooter-riding toerags lately; tell me you wouldn't be tempted to pull out your .357 Magnum (because, after all, there's no point flipping about) and letting a couple loose in their general direction. I'm pretty certain I would. And we'd better be bloody good shots or there might be the odd innocent bystander with plate-sized exit wounds for their troubles.

That's fine, I can see how I appear contradictory. But let's take alcohol as an example, I don't touch the stuff myself but I'd happily buy anyone here a pint and I'd hope they'd enjoy it. Similarly, I smoke, most people would disapprove, but I'd hope they'd respect my choice to do it. If you're not hurting anyone I'll defend your freedom to do whatever you like and I'll probably help you do it, whether or not I like it.
Guy's, that's just a hypothetical pint, I don't want to go to the bar and find you've all run up my tab

ok, these terrorist b*stards have had more than enough of my headspace...it's time to go make some money for the bills. Plus I'm probably dangerously close to getting a yellow card for going off topic, again.
