No, that's a strategy. An edge is the result of those efforts. eg what the research tells you.

For example, if you are to laxy to do research you can make a profit. If you are feeling motivated and research every detail of a team you can also make a profit.

If I backed it I could have made the same amount of money in 2 minutes compared to 130 minutes researching the match and watching it.

This is your problem.

I watched a webinar by SportsTradingLife who says watching a match live can give people an edge of those who just follow stats. In a video Paulo Rebelo said that the stats are just estimates. A team can attack but never get the ball near the goal.

Last night I checked Portugal v Ukraine on SofaScore and I could tell from the attacking possession that Portugal would score and they did.

Just keep doing that.

But Psychoff and Paulo Rebelo watch the matches.

Hi Jimibt, you sound knowledgeable. I backed 1-1 at half time between Wrexham and Chesterfield. I backed it at 8 but shot up to 18 and then crashed back down to 5.9 once Chesterfield scored. The odds just seemed incredibly high. Do you have experience trading half time scores?


Even at 8 I made 25% but at 18 it would be fantastic profit margin.

I learnt to trade by doing the obvious - backing horses where I thought the price was too high or laying horses where I thought the price was too low. Experimented with backing or laying the field pre-race, football win markets. Tried all sorts of ideas, gave up on the unsuccessful ones (including football), worked on the more successful methods. No trading software or help from anyone (don't know if this forum was around or I might have been unaware of it).

So is that scalping the horse racing market? The that I don't is how do you protect yourself from prices crashing. I watching one video of someone making 2% increments but if the horse bolts then the price of horse will rapidly increase and could lose 50% in a matter of seconds.

Scalping and swing trading. 50% of a trade, if the trade is 2% of your capital, equals 1% of your capital - no great loss and it shouldn't happen often if you scalp the right markets. It mainly causes big losses to inexperienced traders who haven't learnt capital management.

I have tried to look into with football but I can't see any swings pre-match that I would anticipate. Horse racing seems to be very volatile before the off because you can watch the live feed of the horses joining the stalls but I don't see anything like that happening in football. All the value with football appears to be live during the match.

This sort of sums up where you are going wrong. You seem to be looking for a slam dunk dead cert system you can just deploy immediately, when trading just doesn't work like that. This has been reiterated constantly on all these posts. I'm not sure why you don't get that.

You need to go right back to basics and start afresh. No buying books or watching videos is going to get you to anywhere. You need to start at first base and build out.

You've received 100s of posts of advice. Euler suggested you go back and read them, and you're asking which one!!!

For every 20 questions you ask and every 100 replies you get, you think you just need to read one post!!

I would suggest you go back and read every single reply, slowly, carefully, and not while trading a match. It's not the first piece of advice you've missed that you need to re-read. It's all of it, which is every post!
