Agreed. There are a couple of minor things that I don't like but I suppose when you are used to the way things are, you never want things to change ;)

Hi Chaps - a thought/request for the next release:

under the file tab we currently have the last 5 markets opened accessable by clicking or pressing 'Ctrl + 1'...through 'Ctrl + 5'

Please could this be extended to include 9 markets so we would end up with 'Ctrl + 1'...through 'Ctrl + 9'

...hope that's easily possible and not a problem :)

It says Out of Memory, so you could check the Windows virtual memory settings. Also check you haven't got BitDefender installed as that causes problems with .NET applications.

If neither of those help, open a support ticket with [email protected] and we'll investigate further there.

This is one of the best bits IMO

I reckon this will lead to an increase in liquidity in some Aussie markets, even if the increase is slight.

Thanx for the quick reply!

Got a bit worried becasue in my home country I am obligated to pay taxes on winnings from licence in AU if Betfair has an office there. Has aalways just avoided the AU markets earlier, but might check up if they have any establishmenths in AU now. Does anyone have any info on that subject?

Hi,

I install the last version and could not find the " Limit data request per second".

How can I select the data request in this version V 1.37.4 ?

There are no limits in the new API so there is no need to set them.

It will be interesting to see if they update the T&C's tomorrow..They still refer to 20/Req/Second..

(By the way <1000/Hour Transactions still count)

Can I just ask: There is still a "Virtual bets" tickbox in the display area..So I assume the calculation for the XM odds takes place within Betangel rather than passed via the API?

Thanks

XM support is better with this API. We can request prices from betfair with or without virtual bets included (which is what you control with the check box). However if you configure to limit virtual bets to just the best 3 prices, then we request the prices without virtual bets and enhance the prices locally in a similar manner to previous versions of Bet Angel.

There are some limits - unfortunately I already hit them...

"exceptionname": "APINGException",
"APINGException": {
"errorDetails": "",
"errorCode": "TOO_MANY_REQUESTS",
"requestUUID": "prdang-28828f-11061400-00041a412f"

when using NG API. But I can't find what are actual limits.
The problem I have - there is no control over Guardian request, just refresh rate can be set. BA Settings - Communications have No influence on amount of request made by Guadian. If I run Guardian with refresh 200ms it is doing about 15 calls/s. And if multiple instances are used, result can be TOO_MANY_REQUESTS

That message does not mean the same thing as exceeding the 20 calls per second limit with the old API.

Betfair allow a customer to get prices up to five times per second per market. You can have multiple instances of Bet Angel running each calling 40 times per second and not hit that limit as long as you don't call the same market for prices more than five times in the same second.

We protect against that in Bet Angel; so whether you're running multiple ladders, Guardian, Excel or whatever, a single instance of Bet Angel will not exceed that limit.

The old calls per second limiter would not help as that limited total number of calls rather than on a market by market basis.

If you're running multiple instances then it's sensible not to add the same market to both instances unless using a second betfair account. If you really wanted to do it then you'd just need to slow down the refresh rates (including Guardian) so that exceeding five calls per market per second became a very rare event. It's not going to do any harm if it occurs occasionally if two instances happen to synchronise their updates for a while.

Betfair have put the limit there to protect their servers from load, at least they are not looking to levy a charge if the limit is exceeded!

Where did you see the error message? You shouldn't have seen it in a popup message in Bet Angel which would get in the way of normal trading, so if that occurred let us know and we'll tone down the message.

Thanks for reply,
the message is from another application, not from BetAngel.

That makes sense.

We've spent a lot of effort thinking through the usage of the new API, so would have been surprised if that exception had been displayed in Bet Angel. It should just be handled. In the case of a cycling system such as Guardian, the exception would delay the call in one instance which should help break the synchronisation of the markets in the two instances.

If I were to run multiple copies of betangel on the same desktop, is it still the best way to run/install each instance from a separate folder...or can you merely click on the desktop icon and open two BA Windows?
Thanks
