I'm not a zombie (yet) but I am a postal voter (in the UK) and all this concern about postal voting has made me give postal voting a little thought. I'm happy that I am not fraudulent but what about after I die (or move away). A postal voting ballot slip is posted to my current address, is completed and posted back and if they are not told I have died or moved away whoever gets hold of that postal ballot voting slip can make my vote in addition to their own! OK, it will be picked up eventually but how long does 'eventually' take? It's a bit like the students (actually anyone with access to two addresses) being on two voter lists. Maybe the process of postal voting does need to be reconsidered and made more fraud proof. A national register perhaps?

Surely there can't be thousands of such cases and it shouldn't be difficult to not send ballot papers to people who are dead. Let's face it, you can't die without a death certificate.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 4:30 amI'm not a zombie (yet) but I am a postal voter (in the UK) and all this concern about postal voting has made me give postal voting a little thought. I know there are other complications that I'm not aware of but voting with your NI number, having it logged onto a central database with a list of egible voters would instantly detect a dead person voting or somebody voting twice.
Beats me! Perhaps people believe the Supreme Court will uncover a massive multi-million vote fraud and reverse it, or maybe such people only exist in the US.

Overall probably a good outcome, the Senate held by GOP prevents as much progressive bullshit as possible and frustates much of legislative agenda and sleepy Joe wheeled out occassionaly to speak from teleprompter. Hope he can last out the four years (but I really worry that the 25th gets invoked at some point).
I'm not worried about that, I like women with power, excluding our own two female leaders.gazuty wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 6:06 amBasementWill be very similar to weekend at Bernie's.

Backing him at 1.01 even if he is certain of winning would tie up a lot of funds until the market closes, which could surely make more than 1%.

Agreed, NI Number but I wouldn't be surprised by the number. Remember it's not just deaths (>500k pa though only a small number would be postal voters). Then add those at university and other reasons to have two addresses (forces) ... it all mounts up. The 'university' problem will get worse if the voting age is reduced because students will be on the voter list at home before going to uni. There has been reports of students having two votes in recent elections.Derek27 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 4:53 amSurely there can't be thousands of such cases and it shouldn't be difficult to not send ballot papers to people who are dead.
