I think my biggest disappointment was probably Professor Leighton Vaughan Williams. I've read quite a few of his papers and expect he must be one of the most knowledgeable people in the area of sports betting efficiency. However his talk didn't really offer any exciting new ideas or even frame existing ideas in cool ways. Even for a beginner, his talk would have been a bit dull given he was just reading his slides.

Now this is to say nothing about his contributions to the industry in general though. We clearly wouldn't be talking on this forum at all if it weren't for him.

Although similar in content, I think Dominic Cortis presented much better and was more interesting.

Overall I think going to the conference was worth it though. Even though I didn't massively learn anything new, it was quite inspiring nonetheless. I have to caveat that with the fact that I didn't have to travel far though! Haha. Don't think I'd go if it was in Scotland!

I would have loved to talk about one of the sports I traded and could have delivered a knockout presentation I'm pretty sure.

I'm sure you would have. Opportunity definitely lost.

As I mentioned, a lot of it is in the delivery. I'm sure all the years you've been doing your training courses will have helped too.

Y, I actually arranged to meet him as I wanted to say a personal thanks for giving us all the opportunity. Been meaning to do that for ages!

Putting aside personal and commercial issues, I think Matchbook came out of the whole experience pretty well. I had a good chat with them and they have done the community some good, so credit to them for finally making it happen.

Am I correct in thinking the cost of attending was £400? That seems a lot to me if it is true.

Peter - you mentioned on another thread about listening to something about tax and said you would update the forum about it?

Sounds like a great event that many of us would have loved to go to. Would have been nice to hear something about it before it happened to give those of us outside the loop a chance to attend.

Had no idea it was that much! That wouldn't have been value for me as I knew everybody already anyhow. But I guess it would have been different from another perspective. But that shows you they got a good result as there was a pretty good turnout.

Stratabet had a 50% off discount code. They tweeted it a few times in the run up. £200 seems fair but £400 + travel + hotel etc would have been a £1000 day out.
