I think people are just pointing out pride comes before a fall. If you've been doing this for 10 years well done I'm surprised it's taken so long to tell everyone how well you're doing, if you've only been winning for a few weeks doing this it's worth noting plenty of trackside players have gone bust trying to snipe the winner.

You know what, sniping (with video) can be a bit shaky. But I have been doing this for years and because I am now mostly retired, my concentration is fixed - big time. Again, I will state do NOT trade races before the start of the race unless you have a very big betting bank around £10,000 - do what I do and you will win every day!!!!! You only need a betting bank 0f around £500. And you will win EVERY DAY!!!¬!

I must admit, of the many things I've tried with automation and BF, backing the front runner to PLACE late in the race was one of the more successful efforts, though the markets are so efficient now, even in play, that I only ever seemed to get value and the few times that something almost stopped in the last 200 yards, to be passed by 3 horses before the line meant it didn't seem profitable long term.

Having just watched the videos on a nasty ad-filled service, I recoiled in horror to see a £1500 stake winning just a few pounds as backed so late on. You only need ONE of these horses or jockeys to stumble or collapse in the last few yards to be beyond recall balance wise. Only the brave (or reckless) would try to do this from streamed video images.

We all know how many 1.05 and lower losers there are each week.... Good luck if you can consistently make gains this route, but I know my style and this isn't it - my heart couldn't take it!

Think this sniping approach is one of the highest risk Vs reward ways to trade but if it works for you then GL and you should carry on with it but it not something I would consider doing.

You strike me as somebody who has grown frustrated at being an unsuccessful trader, and have resorted to gambling strategies instead

Fair play to yea Oliver123 you must be able to predict 1.01's and 1.02's because there has been a few of them in the last week how did yea miss them?

Anything can happen in racing you have been on here since 2009 and now you decide to share this wisdom :P .... Plenty of profitable people on here who would never share a winning formula. Maybe your hoping people will try your idea so you can "sniper" up there big losses :D

This thread should be in the human psychology section.

Male humans (and other male primates) crave status, it's a large part of winning a mate.

The originator of this thread recently posted viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12386&p=104786#p104786 about an 8 year losing streak. Obviously that would really wear down resilience and perceived status. Seeking to rebuild status through claiming to be successful is an understandable development from the perspective of maintenance of a healthy ego. The capacity of the human mind for self deception is endless.

This is why claims of success should always be approached with scepticism and admissions of failure are more likely to be true.

The sort of threads to read viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8286

Post BetAngel in My Book about Betfair and Trading
I have already written to Peter about this book but did not get a reply. So this is an open question to the forum. Basically, I am in the planning stages of writing a book that would cover Betfair, betting strategies and techniques, and would include a chapter on BetAngel. My question to Peter was, would I require permission from him to include BetAngel as it would also include screenshots of the BetAngel platform, etc. Can anyone offer me any advice on this matter?
Thanks!!

As mentioned on this thread ( viewtopic.php?t=12292 ) I also recognised the voice in the video, as the one in the link below to one of several other videos he has posted on YouTube

http://youtu.be/NdeJgnojcTM

Recommending laying a horse to a liability of £2800 and trading for a profit in running ( good job he was in practice mode )

Good luck with your many Strategies Oliver123,but pleased be honest with yourself , and to your fellow forumites

Halliday takes no prisoners, that's for sure

I'd never make videos to put on social media. If you're Peter Webb and you are flogging a product, or flogging a concept that will lead to people buying your product, then fair enough.

But why would anybody else who makes a living trading, want to upload their videos? I'd rather keep my cards close to my chest, thanks

The fact I sound like Farmer Barleymow is immaterial ;)

I think your right about this, I cant think of a good reason why someone would do it either, except perhaps for the following.

I suppose a successful trader might want to establish a good reputation as an insurance policy. What I mean by this is that no one knows what BF might do next, so imagine if they increased the PC to say 80% for people who had made several hundred thousand pounds profit over x number of years.

Our trader might then decide to do very little trading and switch to teaching instead having established a reputation on youtube. On the other hand if BF keep things as they are our trader might never bother going down the teaching route.

I think it also depends on what type of trader you are, if you do something that has taken you hundreds or thousands of hours to figure out but can be easily replicated by newbie traders then you would be daft to show that on youtube or even to paying customers.

On the other hand if what you do is pre off horse race trading using the ladder then it takes such a long time for most people to be able to do this successfully then I don't think it will make any difference to your bottom line what you do on youtube or in the classes you might teach.

adam todd was flogging a rather buggy piece of software - hence thats why he made vid's, to promote it.
