It is on 3 horses at least almost every time according to what I am seeing but I only have 3 horses up so it could be on others and I am missing it.
They have been at it for a week or more now. I suspect it is the large backer who sometimes just backs one for huge amounts.
They are large amounts for the market and what I would consider large amounts but I guess to some people, take a footballer for example it is next to nothing, even if they lost every time it still wouldn't be a days wages.
Crazy spikes
Yeah it's a bit jumpy again today, I'm in damage limitation mode! Some big cash getting thrown about in no particular trend or so it seems to me.
I'm not going to go wild and lose nearly £500 like I did yesterday, I'm reducing stakes and playing it safe. I sometimes need a big loss to slap me in the face every now and then.

From the 14.20 at Ayr they came a few times, each time they were on at least the front three. They could have come on others but I wasn't watching them.
Here is an example of one of the times they came:

Peter
Is this likely to be a short term thing or a fundamental change in the way the markets operate?
All I can think that's happening if it isn't some lunatic doing it then perhaps one of the major bookmakers are laying their bets off all in one go as their normal systems are down?

Difficult to know, it's certianly new activity and a right pain as you can have a carefully set up position only to see it crushed on one of those spikes. I'm playing it safer till I can see any pattern. It could be somebody hedging off exchange liability I suppose? I can't see any pattern at the moment.
I've started putting offset orders well outside the current price speculatively so when the spike occurs it creates a new position at a cracking price. That seems to be working. The seconds after the spike are creating a bit of a panic and it's easy to fill the counter order in profit. You may want to play around with that.

Yup, but I am sure from the form of the last 7 days or so they will be back at some point. The evening markets will be fun with them. Kempton was interesting last night when they showed up.

I have seen them at every course - though AYR as you know behaves differently to English tracks.
Looks like AYR is a write off now anyway. That hole is lethal! I wouldn't be willing to ride on it.
