Liverpool vs Chelski

I thought they played really well up front, although they defending was possibly a bit lax at times.

As so often happens in games Liverpool lose, the decisive goal came after Rafa took off a key player, bless him!

Liverpool have to be marked down a notch or two after going out last night I would think?

Possibly, but even though they were possibly a bit weak in defense, I thought they played powerful, attacking football on the whole. If they play like that against Chelski, it will be a hard match to call IMHO.

For me the Sunderland / Man U match that follows may be more interesting. If Chelsea win then Utd will know that they would need an absolute miracle to win the title, and given that Sunderland are exremely strong at home and in decent form, I think 9.8 on Sunderland and 5.5 on the draw may be overpriced.

I disagree.

Even if there's just a 1% chance of winning the Premiership, Fergie will expect his team to give the match 100%. It's that 'never say die' attitude that's caused Man U to win many games in the dying embers of the game, against all odds.

Except when they play for their national side... :)

Example: 8 years ago, we went 2-1 down against Brazil. From the players' attitudes, it was like we were 4-0 down!

I said english clubs
It`s like spain.. Real madrid and barcellona made football history but, the national team won 10 world cups before the opening games to return home empty handed....for the happiness of all my english friends I would love to see england winning but only if it`s not against ITALY :D

Advantage Chelsea, with Everton failing to win today Liverpool have nothing to play for.

Will they not be playing for 6th place, given that that would mean that they have a chance of qualifying for European football next season?

Also, although Liverpool are extremely unlikely to get 4th place, it's still a theoretical possibility. As a Man U fan, I hope they show the same spirit tomorrow as they did when they were 3-0 down against Milan! :)

Chelsea in the FA Cup final means there are seven places and Liverpool are assured of 7th place now.

I was wondering why the BBC website had moved the red line under 6th place to under 7th place!

Thanks for that. :)

Isn`t the 7th place for the relegated PORTSMOUTH?

No Pompey will not be allowed to play in Europe due to going into administration

It's a shame it's been allowed to come to that.

Hopefully one day UEFA will introduce a cap on footballer wages and transfer fees, so that clubs don't go broke trying to make sure they have the talent to stay in the Premiership...
