Might be just me but see it as madness Thurles going ahead obviously HRI taken a different view but not as simple as just quarantine the horses is it. BHA get some stick but really need to be very pro active if that means a few weeks off then so be it

unless folks are adaptable to other sports, then i can see the AUS races being targetted eventually in larger numbers. certainly if the news continues into next week, then watch this space!!

Getting desperate already are we.

There are a few Caan videos if you search but generally US markets are very volatile, low liquidity markets requiring smaller stakes and bigger swings. It's easy to get into a pickle by overstaking and being unable to get out, but equally you can cash in on others who make that mistake.

The BHA will have to make a decision soon on tomorrow's racing. At the moment it's still officially on even though it's hard to see anyone planning a trip to the races tomorrow.

US Racing isn't worth it, low liquidity and random start times. Meydan is worth a shot today though.

Don't really fancy trading Thurles but there are two group races at the Meydan carnival.

Read that in Aus they never vaccinated against it before that outbreak in 2007, not sure that can be taken as a huge positive when vaccinated horses getting hit

I use aussie races in practice mode for automation testing for timing/triggers - just recording/playback at 16x trick. those bots are mental and inplay is totally bamboozling. US is US but they have great showmanship!

a bit like the foot and mouth outbreak here in the UK in 2002, the ultimate containment strategy was what halted its pace. the biosecurity that was in place for that was increadible. i know this as we moved from London that year to the scottish borders and literally WALKED into the middle of this outbreak. no matter where you went, there were bio footbaths between (farming) properies. still took a while as the outbreak was pretty huge.

hopefully lessons from this and the 2008 NSW outbreak will aid a swift programme to halt the progress of the virus.

Someone on BF said that this flu happened in France before, and they just shut down the stables involved and fairly quickly got back to racing after a short stop...?

Though that may be optimistic here of course.

Time to finally do that work on 'moving to different markets' that we've all been putting off then.... :| :?
