Is it just me or is today hard work?

Have found this evening dire but probably just me. Just feels like there is very little money around away from the fav.

Thought I'd lost the plot this afternoon and was down £25 going into the evening session (I had a terrible week last week with my second losing day of the year)- found the evening much easier to read - making £65 - seemed to be some very sharp changes in direction which were not easy to read. These days I find the best trading opportunities closer and closer to the start of each race, which makes life a little more dangerous than I like!!

Well I managed to pull my loss back but only to make a total of £22.07,

Pathetic day but a profit is better then a loss.

Yantraman, your second losing day of the year :o

I average about 3 losing days a month! I've had 5 this month totaling over 5k

Had my first losing day for ages.

We had guests staying for past week so only able to trade a couple of hours a day, but still made money. Yesterday our guests last day, only able to trade six races, everything I touched turned to gold made £77!!

Couldn’t wait for today. Second race traded too close to off, race went in play lost £33, really angry with myself. Back in profit over next three races, then the whole day fell apart ended day £125.62 down.

I know it’s my fault, thought I could do no wrong. Reality check tomorrow.

davy - in the past I have worked a lot with people trying to form good habits over bad. This has included people from GA, AA, many forms of substance abuse, weight issues from anorexia to simply losing a stone or two. I have worked with people in TV and one or two in politics (including a former cabinet minister).

The most successful interventions always included this...

Find a way (I would normally devise their programme)to account for lapses.

To explain:

When i was working with someone who was trying to lose weight and their weakness was say chocolate. An important part of their programme was to include a strategy which helped them accept and move on from a lapse. If you omit this from a recovery programme you are pushing someone in to a One Way street. graphs are ony linear in theory.

So what I am saying is that in your overall vision of your path to sucessfull trading, you MUST include glitches from which you overcome. See yourself having losing days and bouncing back from them. This is normal healthy progression.

I know what you are saying Quinny. Last night when I wrote that post I was not happy with myself. The reason was, I broke some of my own rules and paid for it.

Provided the damage is not too severe, it does no harm for this to happen every now and then, it keeps your feet on the ground. And of course after a good night’s sleep, the world looks a far different place.

Let’s put it this way, I am far more forgiving of myself than my wife is. In future I intend to tell her I had a bad day but still made a couple of pounds, it makes for a more peace full life, thanks for the response Quinny.

Ha Ha.... A man after my own heart... trading is tough enough without having to fulfil/manage other peoples' expectations... I also play down the days when I play a complete blinder, it makes for a more peaceful life as you say Davy...

I know where you're coming from - I never discuss what i make/lose as it can lead to expectations which you then feel you have to live up to.

Play it down - even if I made 1k a day (which I dont!!)I would prefer others to think i just made a modest income.

Drive a shit car - that always helps :D

What amazes me is how people don't think twice about wanting to know how much you make but if you ask them what they earn in their job they wouldn't tell you. They seem to think because we bet for a living they are entitled to know.

I've never thought about that andy but just now I realised everyone I know pretty much has asked fairly early on either how much have I earned today type questions or how much do you earn questions. I've never asked them how much they make!

Give it a bash next time they ask, most people are very secretive about how much they earn but they don't think twice about asking you when you say what you do normally. I often just make up amounts now for a bit of fun as it took me a while to realise that it is none of their business and they wouldn't ask if I said I worked in say an office.

well recently I've started dodging it but at first I felt like I had to sort of justify what I was doing by telling them how much I make.

Just tell people it's a cover and that you really run a porn website, that's usually a good show stopper.
