Getting nearer, but just a little reminder this time last year it would have been Gold Cup day tomorrow
Your photos make me realise just how much I have missed physically being part of a group of people all focussed on something in common - and I'm not an especially group minded being.

I totally agree with this - it's that feeling of shared emotion.

The highs of watching your team score a last minute winner from the stands (mind you it wouldn't have happened too often at Craven Cottage this season..), or your group of mates all having a punt on the same horse and it landing at Cheltenham/Epsom. Classic moments - let's hope the return is nigh.

Seeing photos of big crowds just seems really strange to me now! :?

Yes, the continual lack of this sort of physical socialising is having a huge impact on the mental health of a large proportion of the population I reckon.

Field sizes look smaller this year, at least on the opening day. Just eight runners in the supreme, can’t ever remember a field that small before.

I suppose in a normal year, there would be a lot of runners there just making up the numbers so they could give their owners a day out. No point doing that this year I guess.

88 runners declared for Tuesday, average last 5 years has been 110.

I think the owners is the main issue, possibly Brexit too as it's made it more expensive to send one from Ireland.

Just running my thumb over last years numbers. If anybody is interested in them let me know and I'll post some data to the thread.

Up bright and early, a busy morning of prep ahead. Really looking forward to this years festival. I think it could be a really interesting one, under unique circumstances.

Good luck everyone!
