I don't agree with all of the philosophical ideas myself (although I found much of it thought-provoking).

But I'd try out the techniques. They do work IMHO.

jeff book arrived.

i dont think this book will agree with me. there are many statements they claim as fact or infer as fact but, they offer no evidence; at best just conjecture derived from flimsy cause and effect.

just under half done. will bash rest out soon.

im at page 100ish. im the same with regards to their philosophical notions i dont accept at all but, i do think some of the breathing methods could be useful if not to me, but to others. that does make some sense.

as i said will finish it at some point soon.

Unless you are completely chilled out all the time, I'm sure you too could benefit from the breathing exercises. :)

I'm in two minds about the breath counting exercises - they're effective, but I sometimes find myself focusing on my breath when I want to focus on something else.

But the progressive relaxation exercise, where you visualise each part of your body feeling heavy, is really great (and is very similar to hypnosis in the way it relaxes you).

As regards their philosophy, I would recommend you have a look at their section on compassion (which is, I think, in the appendices - my copy of the book is with a friend). The world would be a much happier place if people could be more accepting of themselves and others.
