Thanks for the reply, I wouldn't neccessarily agree percentages are more intuitive for first time bettors as like you state decimals have the advantage of quickly calculating returns and comparison against other books. Might be an idea to display the overrounds on the market pages as I didn't notice those displayed.
I'm interested to know if anybody has used these guys yet or not?
I notice they are still displaying prices as percentages.
Also, I can't see total amount matched figures either. I can see how much money is available, but nothing else. These figures could simply be bullshit to draw punters in, so I'd be keen to hear of any experiences with them

The site doesn't appear to have moved on at all since I last looked at it.
For them to stand a hope of mounting a serious challenge to Betdaq, never mind Betfair, it needs to be far more user-friendly.
And their description of what the site is all about is a bit misleading IMHO:
Smarkets is the simple, social way to bet on your favourite events. Sign up today and start betting against your friends.
From what I can tell, backers and layers are anonymous, so you can't use the site to place a bet against a mate.

PS I think that their credibility isn't helped by the fact that the picture of their co-founder makes him look like a young Michael Palin in a Monty Python

I'm dragging up a 4 year thread here!
I still haven't used them, but had a look at their website today.......and it's really shit!
I'm disappointed for them because they've made no impact at all and their website isn't user friendly. They still don't display £ matched, which suggests there's bugger all money for them to proudly display. This doesn't encourage traders to register, as the fill rate is an important part of gauging what level of stakes to throw into the pool
At the beginning of this thread I'm a Celebrity was being mentioned, whereas now I can't even see it on their site. This either shows the website is crap and I can't find it, or they have gone backwards with markets being offered
The only person here who I'd heard having used them, was somebody who was banned for having made money from their market makers!
Anybody else here having traded with Smarkets?

I used them quite a bit around a year ago when I finally got around to taking up bookmakers introductory offers. The odds mirror Betfair very closely and there is actually quite a lot of money offered, more than Betdaq and with a tighter spread. Having a lower commission than Betdaq as well meant it was the best option for arbing (I did football mostly).
Haven't used them since, but have just had a quick look now. I didn't like the website then, and it hasn't improved much. Notice that they're still haven't released their API (disappointing, they've been promising this for years), also notice that they're having an open day tomorrow if anyone wants to go along and give a trader's perspective;
