The culture secretarys decision about the levy is seperate from the Levy Board' exhchange consultation. Anyone who took the time to write in would have received an email asking for responses to the submissions (19 were made, only 12 coming from individuals) that are posted on the website here http://www.hblb.org.uk/document.php?id=388

Amazing turnout of traders really, especially considering that it as been claimed that over 6,000 betfair users should be paying levy - of the 12 individuals that wrote in most clearly weren't traders. That 6,000 is clearly a ridiculous figure, but if anything were to happen about this and exchange users were to be classified as being 'in business' (which would also mean profits would be taxable too?) then some people would feel very silly that they didn't bother to take the time to write one email

Money buyers out in force at 1.01 as they can't lose, £210,000 matched at 1.01, not sure why the layers were giving money away as they couldn't win laying the horse - I think it is a shocker that if all fall the race is voided - why should you get your money back - jumping is part of racing so effectively shafts the layers.

Today is awful, down about £80 at the moment, lost early on and can't seem to pull it back.

Strangely enough, I very rarely dabble in racing, but have been playing around over the past few days & have made £280

I think it depends on your trading style

I'm used to sports trading - small fields with an odds on favourite. This might be why crappy racing maximises my trading strengths

I'm about £170 down and it's annoying, Can't read these markets at all today. Think I'll pack in before I do some damage.

What approach have you been taking, eg scalping, swing trading, etc?

I predominately scalp a couple of ticks, but will move my money further out when it looks like steaming in by 5 or more.

It might just be coincidence Jeff, but with larger fields and weaker favourites I seem to struggle to read the markets

I don't know how any of you guys made money from today, It seemed impossible to me!

16 races traded and only profited in 4! not sure I've ever traded as consistently bad before
