The alternative would be broadcasters reaping ad revenue and subscriptions but the athletes would get nothing.
£18.5 million for the Olympic committee's 5 star hotel accommodation over 2.5 weeks... They are also doing quite well out of it!

Tom pidcock was in the lead and had a puncture. Now trying to chase down the gold medal with 2 laps to go.

Pretty sure I heard the National Anthem when the gold was awarded. What happened to Beethovens Ode to Joy !!!!

Outstanding effort from Pidcock...

No, not liquid enough. Though I did pay close attention to it.

I tried to put some trades through the market the night before the off. Couldn’t get matched for love nor money. About £5K traded in total. I gave up and on the day of the race, I chose to walk the dog instead of watching the market.

When I got home and turned on the telly, I was surprised to see 50K matched and those charts. I thought it may have traded like a Grand Tour stage in-play. Felt like a missed opportunity.

Murray / Evans save match points again in a TB to get to the quarters.

Forecast for Thursday is thunderstorms. Any sports active during this time could be really scrambled up.

I have not tuned into a single event yet.

The men's pursuit cycling was always my fave event. Seeing Blighty bring home the bacon and set new world record in the best ever Olympics of London 2012 was super thrilling. I still get a dopamine shoot even now watching it.

It was a thrilling final few laps, probably the best I can remember seeing

To win Mountain biking gold two Olympics running while also competing in road races including wining stages at the Tour de France shows just what an accomplished and all round rider he really is

Speaking of amazing finishes Alex Yee has just came from what looked to have been a certain 2nd place to win the mens Triathlon

Olympic games medal table is a bugbear of mine, makes no adjustments for size of population.
