Where have you moved from and have you entered the UK legally or illegally ?
Please give the OP a chance to reply to my question before jumping to ridiculous conclusionssionascaig said

Of course I entered the UK legally. I have a residence permit. Otherwise I wouldn't be allowed to apply for European Schengen visas in European countries' embassies in London. Foreigners are allowed to apply for European Schengen visa in the UK only if they have a UK residence permit.

That sounds like a very difficult task. It is hard to find a legal short-term job. Or I will have to lie to employer during the interview and then quit the job a few weeks later because if I tell the truth that I need a job only for a few weeks to get some payslips, no employer is going to hire me under such cirumstances.

Do you need to prove you’re earning over a certain specified amount?

They did not tell me the exact amount I need to prove I am earning over. So I believe a proof of an average UK income would be enough.Lynskey888 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:21 pmDo you need to prove you’re earning over a certain specified amount?

If you only need to demonstrate a source of income up to the point the visa is granted could you perhaps get a temporary job through an employment agency?
When I was a student many, many years ago I recall registering with an agency on a Friday and being in an office job the very next week. They’re not very discerning.
While any work secured this way is unlikely to be rewarding on any level, if it’s a means to end and it lets you get your visa…?

Ah, I see, you are a foreigner with a UK residence permit which allows you to live and work in the UK.football_trader wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 12:09 pmOf course I entered the UK legally. Just get a job then, it will solve all your problems

I am sure there is a lot of professional traders/punters here on this forum who do it for a living. Do you all have a regular job so you could provide a proof of income/payslips when state authorities/banks/embassies etc require a source of income documents from you?

Unfortunately, gambling isn't a recognised profession/job in the UK.football_trader wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 1:26 pmI am sure there is a lot of professional traders/punters here on this forum who do it for a living. If it was , it would be taxed, and I'm certainly not voting for that

No authority will recognise "gambling" as a stable income. No mortgage, very limited new credit options, even gambling operators who understand the concept don't like it. I've had several run-ins with Betdaq when I can't provide them with payslips to support the volume of my activity.football_trader wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 1:26 pmI am sure there is a lot of professional traders/punters here on this forum who do it for a living. That's the downside of the job, you're effectively unemployed so I just put 'Independent means' or 'Retired' and see how it goes down.football_trader wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 1:26 pmI am sure there is a lot of professional traders/punters here on this forum who do it for a living. If it's for one upcoming check you can try withdrawing the same amount, on the same day each month, for 6 months, to make it look like regular income, but it's not certain to work. Or you can set up a company to contract yourself out to but then tax and accountants get involved.
Forget credit or a mortgage, like most ify non-jobs (eg tarmac gang, drug dealer) you live according to the cash you have in your pocket.

Guys, thanks a lot. After reading your replies I know that I have only 2 options: either find a job or travel to visa-free entry countries

Welcome to the UK! You don’t need to declare gambling winnings for tax purposes, but proving income for a visa can be tricky. Keeping detailed records, using a dedicated bank account, and providing consistent withdrawal statements might help. You may also want to consult an immigration expert for better guidance.
