Got to say I am loving today - Tatispout at Kempton was just the icing on the cake.
Different markets suit different people, as I said on the Cheltenham thread, I would much much sooner a day like today over any of the previous 4 days.
For me, I trade rubbish markets day in day out so practice them thousands of times a year, markets with heaps of liquidity I rarely trade and as such I am not as good at them but the extra money you can put through helps but I still don't feel I get anywhere near the results I should and when I see what Peter can pull out of the likes of Cheltenham it confirms my thoughts that I am no where near up to scratch on them.

i thought you'd have been in on the Tatispout non-start!
how do you manage to catch any money on those with only standard pics to work from?
i got things going after my original post and having a good day now (for a modern day Saturday!).

Tatispout was a good trade, but they are few and far between. The problem I have and why I moan so often is I just have too much money to safely put through a lot of these markets. I have high expectations and prefer to wait for the right set up rather than grab a few quid here and there. I've only posted a few results from Cheltenham but some of them can be substantial, but that's only because there is decent money flowing through them.
Today I have spent a lot of time on Betdaq as I am determined to get that working on all markets not just the most suitable. I think it will be worth the investment. So I have been jumping on Betfair when I see an opportunity and mainly sticking it out on Betdaq.

In that case, the horse Refused to race last time out so was already on the look out for it when I saw the horses name. So laid it for a bit, then it didn't look like going so laid it for some more, it then refused but the starter called it a false start.superfrank wrote:i thought you'd have been in on the Tatispout non-start!

I was then able to lay it for a heap more before the next start - yes the horse could have decided to start but it was looking very unlikely and had it started I would have jsut taken the loss.
But over time the number that don't start and you win 100% far outweigh what I loose when they do decide to get going.
There was no need for fast pictures - the signs and time to lay was there for a long time, trying to lay once it hasn't started is not possible on normal pictures - thats for the oncourse guys.

every time i try that it jumps off fine and then the price crashes in (and overreacts) as the layers scramble to get out. i remember getting caught when Twist Magic looked to have planted himself at the start but then virtually jumped off into the lead!
catching the overreaction when they do jump off is the other angle.

I remember him well as well and imo the risk of him not starting was already factored into his price. Hence when he did jump he came into his true race odds.superfrank wrote:i remember getting caught when Twist Magic
I won't lay up to any price - I will only lay up to prices that I consider still represent the horses true price roughly or else if you start laying a 10-1 shot at 50-1 and it then does start you will lose a heap, but lay it up to a reasonable price and you won't come to to much harm.
As to selecting which ones to go for or not comes down to the body language of the horse and rider - this is where I feel my working with horses experience helps me.

After that Kempton win at 4pm I have to say I have struggled to make much. Pretty much been treading water since
Overall a pretty good day though

What a bizzare experience its been for me this week, today i finished early although i went back for a couple more races when i was bored but despite it being probably the poorest saturday of the year i was thoroughly shocked when i looked at my results to find i had a complete clean sheet.. and i just about topped what i made on thursday, im still a little bit confused now to tell the truth.
The only thing i can think is possibly some sort of mental effect this week and having some nice results has done to me? can anyone else relate to a moment like this? I even found myself looking at my results and saying 'bloody hell that looks like a pro's results' ... then i realised it was almost as if i was dismissing it as complete luck although obviously it cant be, had a clean sheet yesterday too... obviously results like that im not pushing it to where i could possibly make but its far outweighed my normal wage this week, completely lost and confused with myself to be honest... any words of wisdom?
Cheers
