I've learned a lot from looking at races with unexpected outcomes - far more than I've ever learned where the race outcome was totally expected.Hence the interest.

I totally agree, it would have taken a big leap of faith to back her.In that case, why did she open at the track at 10/1 instead of about 16/1 as she should have?

Early money for her this morning, maybe? If that was the case,if it took a leap of faith to back her, someone must have taken it.

Having worked with bookies and with friends that are bookies, clerks, pro punters etc that opening price would be standard practice. There was no early money to speak of and 10/1 seemed a standard offering. They tend to err on the side of caution and if people step forward with money at 10/1 you'll see 8/1 very quickly as they worry about her PTP form and potential form. If nobody steps up then you can expect the drift. They usually start with silly prices hoping to catch a few small fry and when the big fish stepped up they rub out the price.

I've left a message with my mate but he's not answering. He's probably counting his cash! I did speak to a small bookmaker shop and he said there was a few nibbles at around 12/1 but nothing great so she was pushed out further. There was a lot of money for Hurricane Milly and they were trying to balance their books on that one.
