"bomber" is a factually correctly because, whoever or whatever it is, they are bombing.mugsgame wrote:Am I the only one who thinks "The Bomber" is in fact not an individual but an entity /body/bookie/betting exchange?
Bomber my arse
i was careful to say "a" bomber in the opening post.
i think bombing occurs for a variety of reasons and not just genuine gambles. yesterday was someone on tilt imho. they picked a bad day because they nearly all lost and most never in contention and one lost it at the start after rearing in the stalls.
i also think it's a pre-race trading strategy quite often - fake a gamble - smash the price in and then hope the trend is picked up by others or that the price stays down long enough to drip feed in the hedge.

I really was convinced the bomber was an ignorant and impatient bookie getting rid of liability (not that i've ever met a bookie who wasn't sharp as a razor and i've met a few) but when he started going at it in-play as well doing some really daft stuff i was left with doubts. There are some mega rich indivduals for whom these amounts really are pin money, we'll find out one day he must have lost a few $10m's by now at least.
Peter I commented to another trader early on this afternoon that today's markets had a different feel about them. I upped my stakes and had the best day for months.Euler wrote:Curiously today's markets were the best I have seen for a while. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings...bearing in mind that two of my least fav courses are on the cards; Kempton and Ling..
bomber has been about last few days, so id says its 1 of 2 things
bomber was behind the previous strategy and has now moved on to bombing or when bomber is in the markets it cocks up the strategies we have seen for a while and they leave till bomber is gone.

Just curious has anyone captured the bomber when capturing video of trades. I see him mentioned quite often and was wondering what exactly it is he does, is it something along the lines of throwing a heap of money somewhere to drive the price one way?

There is a remote possibility he's attempting to capture value by pushing down the favourite to throw out some long odds horses but I just don't see it and the market nearly always recovers in i 2-3secs.
It's real maverick behaviour, I hope he turns up today I wasn't at the card game yesterday.

I think we get a different set of punters on BF at this time of year.
Well that was good whilst it lasted..things seem back to normal today..PeterLe wrote:Peter I commented to another trader early on this afternoon that today's markets had a different feel about them.
