The maximum data calls is 20 - in total. Why go over this? This runs into £100's VERY quickly.rogerlisa wrote:Been playing with communication settings today and have raised my calls to 30. Now I know this would bring panic to some of you, but at present I am not using Betfair at the same time, nor running other instances of Bet Angel (all as per manual)so therefore I felt that I can raise it safely; however I have to say I havent really noticed a great deal of difference with stickiness or odds changing. Am I looking for the right improvements or not? Assuming I left the setting at 30 to keep the very small difference I have noticed what sort of charges do you think I could expect? I am also resticting refresh on all markets I trade, also as per manual. Anyone please?

Are you kidding?Mr Undercover wrote:Just make sure you never make a profit of 250k lifetime, it's fairly easy to move your profits around and keep under the radar.

Betfair even have dedicated account managers that spend all their time looking at your bets, they have software that flags up similarities. You can't avoid it. You just have to suck it up and wipe your chin.
Please tell me how not to make over 250K. What if you went past this before they introduced the PC?

I once ran (by accident) two accounts at 20 req/sec..and it ran charges up of about 600 pounds I recall!
I sent an email to BDP and thank god they let me off as it was my first time id done that. Be very careful

250k
I am going to have sleepless nights now.
But seriously, I struggle to think of a justification for it, unless they are worried about money laundering applications.
I would have thought beftair should use successful accounts in their marketing, but hey what do I know. At the moment I have a safety margin of about 250k, but I daresay the commission I have paid over the years dwarfs any profit or loss I have made.

I was under the impression that even this would not work? The dedicated teams and software that mugsgame mentions will eventually link accounts and treat them as one for purposes of data and premium charges?PeterLe wrote:Perhaps he means using multiple accounts??

That's exactly what they do. For me it just isn't worth the risk. I just pay it and try not to moan about it too much, although that's hard.MarketTrader wrote:I was under the impression that even this would not work? If paying it had meant it kept 600 guys in a job I wouldn't mind. But it just goes to shareholders I guess, they get richer. But taking from the poor to give to the rich is what the City of London is all about isn't it?
Thanks for responses. So basically 20 calls is quite ample then. I didnt notice any major difference anyway I still lost
. I love the fact that 250k is certainly possible (with time mugs - I know, before you go on one). If I ever get to that stage I dont suppose I would mind paying the higher rate after all I currently pay income tax, corporation tax, vat, employers NI contributions, Public/Employers liability insurance etc all for stuff that I dont think I get value for money for in my current business so there wont be much of a change really

if you've made 250k profit at some point in your lifetime you're stuck...
If you've never made a profit then you won't even register on the radar as it's the first gate in their check.
They do have analysts looking for 'PC avoidance' but realistically how can they prove you are avoiding PC if you lost the money legitimately. If they seized the procedes of your account and aledged PC avoidance they would be on extremely dodgy legal ground. No court in the land would be in the slightest interest in their pc rules. However there is law under the 2005 Gambling Act that protects your balance.
The down size is they would probably bar your account which they are perfectly entitled to do, however you could get round this by using someone elses account which i would never advise anyone to do for many other reasons but even that is only breaking their rules... not the law.

Just one more thing to throw out for discussion. Just say, if I perfected a stradegy that gave me consistant win after win (perfect world and all that)and this went on for a few months, would BF or any other exchange etc take a stance on this. To put a figure on it say a grand a day.
