Mugsgame,
as ever, your analysis is spot-on.
did I see on another post that you have done some youtube videos ?
I would love to check them out. searched under mugsgame- no joy.
To back up the Lingfield observation mentioned earlier in this thread. I once observed a bloke in the bushes opposite the home turn with a laptop. no doubt some are thriving on such an approach.
However,I feel If you have a strategy based on responding quickly to what you see, then you will need lightning reactions along with balls of steel.I have neither.

Ming is still in the game, and a genuine guy.
Its easy not to know etc.
I was one of the 1st in the hotel at Wolvo, using the racetech pics, as the Wolvo race manager wouldnt let people use laptops on course. Naturally, if u were in a hotel room (Holiday Inn), u could do what u wanted, and I took, probably 400k from the track, over 3yrs.
Now, its mined out .. as the hotel has closed, and everyone knows not to trade it.
There is still a communal box .. £150 a day, to go and trade .. I wouldnt suggest anyone go, unless they thght they were a top class in-running trader .. but, everyone has to see for themselves.
The game changed, 2 yrs ago, as racecourses discovered they could charge more and more for boxes, and more and more, discovered in-running / mobile software.
The players now, are mainly pro against pro, and for the huge mileage, expenses, PC, its a less rewarding game.
Ingenious people will still win .. some lots, but, many have done their absolutes, and fresh mug money is needed, in an economy, going downhill.
All tracks these days, have 20-30 traders, split between boxes/phones/mobile. Thats pretty competitive.U need great money management/discipline/goals. Doable, and for some a buzz .. for others, just a wage.
I am still involved .. to an extent, but not just for in-running .. the edge isnt great enuf.

Did you study horse form before each race, or did you simply respond to what you saw?
One thing I've noticed in races is that often a horse will drift out only to come in heavily late on (often to win). Do you think that sometimes the market assumes that a horse isn't doing great, when in fact the jockey is simply biding his time and waiting for the right moment to put his foot to the floor?
Jeff
I had first mover advantage, and in all honesty, underperformed.
They used to race, 100 times a yr .. maybe 8 races a day .. u wud know the horses backwards, and when they kicked at a certain point, they would either win, or go v close.
400k sounds a lot, but its only 150 or so a race .. playing with a huge edge.
U can always win more .. aftertiming.
It was fun .. and Holiday Inn, had 99% occupancy rates, and everyone got bonusses. The bosses had little idea .. and planned renovations/extensions, was based on occupancy that could be turned off, with a flick (as it was, when Dave Roberts, killed the hotel, as people were facetiming the pics).
There are lotsa levels.
Gotta lotta upgrade points thou ..

Why did Dave Roberts get involved?megarain wrote: when Dave Roberts, killed the hotel, as people were facetiming the pics..
Facetimers are stealing pictures.
Empty racecourses, need the £5k a race, SIS pay them.
If I was Dave Roberts, I would do the same.
