Have a go at this viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7345, took me 100,000 simulated years to finally win the jackpot .

puts it all into perspective really , even for people like ourselves that understand the odds .

I'm fairly relaxed on playing the lottery. You have no realistic chance of winning, but that shouldn't stop anybody from buying the dream. I'm disappointed how the national lottery has changed over the years though, from a pure good causes thing to allowing politicians to meddle with the allocation of funds and taxation. Not impressed.

I ran a syndicate for a few years in the hope of pulling of a win using optimal entries. We got five numbers twice and four quite a few times, but never six!

In NZ, Mylotto allows you to buy online, and as well the twice-weekly big lottery, there is also a daily game, I'm playing right now. In 'Bullseye', you pick a number between 0-999999 and the closer you are, the more you win. The number is selected by a quantum physics random number device. It's quite entertaining, because there's a simulated draw and good visuals and sound effects. Gives me a bit of hope each day.

Quantum effects are supposed to genuinely random, meaning literally nothing is supposed to determine the outcome until the very moment of observation. One theory (the many-worlds-interpretation of QM) says that all possible outcomes are realized in alternative universes, so that would mean that there are always alternative versions of you that win in some small fraction of universes :D

Does that mean that Sabine Lisicki is actually sitting on LeTiss's face right now somewhere in the cosmos?

Yes it does! Sabine and LeTiss are living it up right now in the time-stream where LeTiss won the Euro-millions.

See link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Many_worlds_interpretation

"The many-worlds interpretation is an interpretation of quantum mechanics that asserts the objective reality of the universal wavefunction and denies the actuality of wavefunction collapse. Many-worlds implies that all possible alternative histories and futures are real, each representing an actual "world" (or "universe")."
