I've had an American explain to me that this information is in a way "lost" due to the voting system: because the winner in every state gets all the electoral votes, in the end no matter how low the turnout, there will always be 538 electoral votes to divide. This also greatly diminishes the chances of third party candidates. Every third party candidate will either resemble more the democratic, or the republican view. Having two democrats against one republican is like splitting the chances of the democrats: the democrats could get 30% + 30% = 60% of the votes, but then still all the electoral votes would go to the republican because he beat them individually with his 40%.I can't believe the US people have to elect either of these two. I wonder if a low turnout could be a good bet, a vote of no confidence in the political system. Wonder who that would favour?

Surely it would need to be over/under 4.5 market?
I agree and think thats highly likely.LeTiss 4pm wrote:I wonder how many people will vote Trump, but due to peer pressure feel compelled to publicly say wouldn't go anywhere near him?
I suspect this election result may be closer than many think
I watched a program today where Gun companies and lobbyists were bombarding people with emails, phone calls, leaflets and direct mail reminding them that their second amendment rights were at risk if they voted for Clinton.
Given that its estimated there are around 100 Million gun owners in the USA then I guess that's a pretty powerful message to make people stand up and think.
Gun and ammo sales are currently going through the roof as people are panic buying and stock piling.

The FBI have just released documents dating back to 2001 relating to a pardon Bill Clinton gave.
This does all sound very odd indeed.
Does Mr Trump have very powerful friends in the FBI

The Democrats are making the same mistakes as Remain did in the referendum - they are arrogant and don't understand the average man and woman on the street
People don't want to see rich celebrities telling them how to live their lives, when they haven't got a flipping clue what life is like on the bread line.
Clinton's supporters are also making the mistake of trying to dismiss fears of immigration as being racist

Let's hope you're right, but the Trump phenomena tells a different story.LeTiss 4pm wrote:

personnally i dont care it is not my business who american citizens decide will be their next president its their country ( perhaps the red indians might disagree) but, i think it will be a lot more interesting if trump wins and as to deal with the likes of that funny little fat man in north korea, or those God awful shieks in arabia.
interesting times hopefully.

Hopefully not! 'Interesting" rarely means good.to75ne wrote: i dont care it is not my business....

If a man with Trumps idea of diplomacy starts try to deal with The North Koreans or the Middle East....it's going to be very much everyone's business! We all live on one very very small rock and what's happening over the neighbours fence is critically important. I prefer the going at Kempton to be 'standard' rather than 'post apocalyptic'
