I will be having a nice hot chocolate made from the magic milk. Then I shall probably spend the rest of the day and evening lying in state.

Hope everybody else makes the most of their day off from trading UK racing too!

I was wondering why I didn't get my usual Monday McDonald's vouchers - they're closed, along with all the shops!

I would if I could get my skip swapped over today but they've decided they're too upset to work  And I've got a brand new shiny concrete mixer I want to play with but didn't get a delivery of sand.

It's a good stroke they pull off, giving everyone a day off for the weddings and funerals.

Seems odd she had all this military on the payroll but the streets aren't safe to walk at night. I'm sure the Royal Company of Archers aren't as busy as they used to be.

I've been dipping in and out of the coverage. The sheer scale of the event is astonishing. That bearer party looked like they were supporting a huge weight. God knows what the coffin was made of.
Other thing that struck me is the sheer magnificence of pretty much all churches. Even though I'm agnostic I do visit churches when in new places and never cease to be amazed by the effort invested in these places.

It's been leadlined, to preserve the body during the mourning period

You're a braver man than me, I didn't even dare switch the TV on.

The coffin is made of oak, very heavy, but they are military men. I'd expect them to handle it.

And to protect it from radiation in case Putin's upset about not being invited.

So 5.5 stone per shoulder and maintaining close formation, no wonder they looked concentrated.

That should be easy for them. Basic training teaches each of them how to carry all their issued kit, ammuntion and rifle with a total weight of 130lbs.

When i did it in the 1980s the sergeant made us fill our back packs with sand, run 3 miles, then into a river. You can imagine the weight after. The sadistic bastard!!.

Jeez, I doff my cap to you Sir.
But that does remind me of my 1st manager. Ex WW2 drill Sgt Major. And he admitted he was hard on everyone. But he said something that has stuck with me.
"I needed to get these lads to obey commands without question. It could save their life".
I'm not saying he was correct but it does inform the apparent sadism of military training.
