Very poor again, but very poor racing in very thin markets. I've been very defensive this afternoon and will be a bit more adventurous this evening.

several times I have got to the front of the que, had over 1000 behind me and in front of me and I only had pence matched. Getting to the stage where you almost have to take a price to have any chance of getting filled. really poor! Feels better fill rate on betdaq!

Watch the amounts in play towards the end of a race as they get matched. You will find your answers as to why things are happening jimrobo. The other day i caught a vid and there was 8gs of crap matched. 1833 quid arriving both sides of the book, 944, 634 etc... There is no way in this world this is possible unless its from BF matching their own bets. Short term trading is killing the cash cow. Watch closely and you will see it on all races. Then take this for preplay and you will realise why the market turns so sharply. Risk and reward I guess. The guys who put 20 quid say it always go against, the guys who put 200+ always say cant get matched.

If its not bf, i really hope they crack down on it because if it is their market makers, it is out of order what is going on

My god that was so hard today.

Honest answer needed. If you guys who do this full time were still struggling 2 years into putting in a huge amount of effort (studying most nights etc) would you look to knock it on the head? I'm really torn as to what to do. On one hand I've learnt a lot, on the other I'm still not where I feel I should be.

I really hate contemplating quitting something I've invested a huge amount of time in but I feel like I've got a decision to make now.

Step back, take a break and relax. As the old saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day".

Me, I've taken eight years, first four of which were unsuccessful, (I'm not saying you do the same).

Then, I took my first break and reviewed what had worked for me. I found which markets I was best in, sometimes its the place market, sometimes its "in running".

The main thing is not to expect a smooth journey, even the professionals have white knuckle losing days.

DO not expect to make instant profits, build up slowly, accept your losses (Set your stop loss), above all be DISPASSIONATE. Emotions cloud your thinking and your actions, get used to having days like you've had today.

We all have days like this.

Good Luck :)

My notes are telling me to watch out for Danat Al Atheer in the next at Chester.

As I predicted earlier, the evening card is proving much better for me.

I had the same yesterday, missed today and I'm not going to be able to trade until Monday which I'm gutted about, but then I intend get stuck into every single race.

If trading is becoming harder then we can learn when things are tougher and adapt to that, much as it can be frustrating. Much like starting a business in a recession, the glass is half full or half empty depending on perspective.

exactly the same for me again today. Its as if there is no liquidity there. I either don't get matched or the price go's through me.

I wonder if the sportbook is halting a lot of the recreational activity on the exchange? I wonder if Betfair realise what damage they have done to their only USP.

Hi
I havent been trading manually today, but I actually switched my auto stuff off this afternoon. Six years and its never been switched off on a saturday!

I was reading on another forum last night; they had noticed the difference too ie strategies that have been running for years now failing to make a profit.

I did email BDP some time ago and asked if they had changed the XM algorithm and they said no. Not sure I believe them to be honest
Regards
Peter
