I like York, but the volumes feel a bit light at the other meetings today.

This day has often been a decent one for me over the years.

After a stall start, I managed to pick up a fair bit of speed in the end. So generally happy today.

This evening has often produced a result for me in prior years.

I've turned into a robot today, manually testing some basic automation strategies, and it's gone quite well.

I haven't traded for more than a year, but have been watching the racing markets today.
I was surprised by how quickly prices moved at York. Is this normal or have I picked an unusual day?

Have the markets have changed much since last year?

Thanks

I found the bigger races quite stable today. Newmarket and Newbury, particularly the maidens were quite shakey, as you might expect.

Amazing reversal from 3.5s to touch 5s

Thanks Derek,

I’ll watch for a few more days before getting my feet wet. I need to get a feel for the markets again.

Got a bit greedy on that last, walked away with a fraction of what I could have won

Guess that's a bit how contestants felt on Bullseye in the 80s

I haven't traded for more than a year...
I actually missed that bit. I think the markets have got more volatile in the last year or two. You may have noticed the Betfair chart of the day thread has gone dead. Many outrageous moves that previously would have been posted to that thread are becoming all too frequent.

I've become immune to it, as you probably have, but I remember the frustration in my early days of trading, of watching a good green book disintegrate and thinking of what I could have won. It was like being on Bullseye every week.
