Void bet notices have started coming through to some people.

Is that a first? I thought Betfair didn't void bets as a result of crashes. Or are they just voiding unmatched orders?

ive always had a problem wiv betfair settling on the offical offtime and voiding other bets.
i doubt the clock they use for the offical offtime at the course is to the second the same as the betfair clock to reconcile bets, its could be anything out 10,20,30 secs.

I had a void email for the 1:00 Lingfield, bets matched at 13:00:18 , on the winner too :(

No idea what the official off time was so looks like they're using the race time as the cut off.

I had an e-mail from a monkey at Betfair

"We are very sorry for the recent site crash, this was caused by an unexpected change in the weather. As you know we have been experiencing relatively mild conditions and so the near Arctic -2c temperatures today meant our heating system failed and this caused the servers to shut down in sympathy"

I know I know but it's as plausible as anything they're likely to send us!

Given that Betfair went offline on Tuesday, you'd have thought they'd have taken the opportunity to make sure that the system was completely cobweb and gremlin free!

And what's the point of a major upgrade if stuff like this happens just 3 days later?!?

the upgrade was website related wasn't it?

the failure was exchange related. they took the website down after the exchange failed.

15:50 appears to have gone through without a problem.

For the rest of the day I will just mess around on Betfair with a few different automation strategies to very small stakes.

Credit where credit is due - the communication was the best I think I have seen it since I can remember.

Getting their act together?

No suprise. A bet matched at 13:00 was reversed causing a loss, a bet at 12:51 wasn't causing a loss. None of my +ve's came in.

No refund for me either.
£250 gone and It was not my fault.
Soon or later this big Betfair joke will end. I have decided to be optimistic.
