Today's Horse Racing
I would be truly amazed if racing returns at the start of May, I would not be surprised if the whole of May is lost as well.
Time will tell but I am working to the basis that there is no racing in the UK for the next 2 months, if it returns earlier great.
I believe that before too much longer we will have to venture out and get back to work even though C19 danger won't have been eliminated as it is just unsustainable to carry on like this. Official hygiene ads, social distancing measures, hand sanitizer stations and masks etc will become the norm - but some fun will have to return too. Sport will be an important part of that - sports that don't require physical contact should surely get the nod soonest. Additionally it will need to be considered that those horses might be getting fed and stabled for now but they're not all owned by bottomless pocketed millionaires and their importance to government revenue might be more important than the dog food they'll otherwise provide.

All valid points Jukebox, except I thought it was the case that's there were too many horses as it stood, and certainly far more were bred than could ever hope to pay their way? Maybe a return to them being slightly more prized rather than every Tom Dick and Harry with a field mincing 9/10 and hoping for a good one wouldn't be a bad thing? The virus is showing there's a lot of slack in the system, from unnecessary journeys to unnecessary visits to A&E that have magically dried up, I'm hoping for some sort of return to a needs based economy instead of one driven by want, and I hope the welfare of horses and greyhounds will benefit from that. Racing needs good trainers and good horses but I'm sure it can do without some of the 1000s of horses owned by so called syndicates playing at being owners and scrapped when they don't deliver the wins.

In a roundabout way, I sense Trump/Bojo tend to see it that way too, although they have to obtain a balance in carrying on normally (economic) and adhering to advice, re- social distancing/lockdowns (scientific).Jukebox wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 1:15 amI believe that before too much longer we will have to venture out and get back to work even though C19 danger won't have been eliminated as it is just unsustainable to carry on like this. I agree about some form of sport returning. Greyhounds may return on the 14th April (wait and see on that one)
Just watching on Sky News, an old man (slightly overweight) attending a hot clinic. He goes through a telecom system outside, puts a mask on before entering the red zone, and ushered into a room. He's struggling to breathe/walk, in pain/discomfort....gets a check over...and is sent back out/home to self isolate because he's not poorly enough to be sent to hospital!
Looks as though you've gotta be catatonic to get referred....
