The last few minutes of these markets you need to be careful with as you get huge sudden moves as the "big boy traders" pull their unmatched money from the market leaving people with exposure leap frogging each other trying to bail.

It happened in the first and it will happen again and again this week.

You have been warned.

Also be careful with the non Cheltenham markets, keep your emotions in check and don't carry on with the same stakes, be warned others won't remember this and will get carried away in the non-Cheltenham markets.

The first race this year was a carbon copy to last year. If you trade up to 2-3mins the market is quite stable then money floods in at 2 mins.

For the next race, Notebook is a really dodgy starter. You may want to account for that in your trading.

Does the actual total matched volume accelerate massively in the final 2-3mins? If so by what factor? I don't have the data that you can lay your hands on, it would be interesting to hear by what factor it increases. Volatility always seems to accelerate but obviously that isn't the same as money flooding in.

People will be closing out positions obviously but having been to Cheltenham, most of the oncourse betting and I would think the off course has all been done way before the 2 minute mark.

If you are leaving it until 2 minutes out on course you can forget watching the race from any decent view point. Oncourse when I was there was almost dead in the last couple of minutes.

The plunge of the fav certainly bit my backside. Ah well, start as you mean to go on!
Same here, not the best start.

Didn't catch the graphs for the first but those drastic last-minute moves never rebounded off memory.

Yep, went down to 3.25. On TV betting was still 11/4, eventually a late 9/4 (shows how quick it moved) The BSP settled @ 3.55

I'm trading a long way out, stopping then restarting just ahead of the post.

Off the mark on the third attempt. Think I'll sit back and just watch the madness unfold. :)
