a good day today and to top it all i had a bonus from betfair to be used in the arcade games. I have never used the games before but as i had £25 to spend, thought i might as well. First i had a go on a game for £2 just to make sure it didn't come out of my account. It came out of the bonus...and lost. Then I decided just to stick the remaining £23 on the game...and it won, netting me about 40 profit. I checked the account and it was in the games wallet, so straight away i moved it into my main account...and it is still there all ready to trade with tomorrow! :D

You do realise it's theoretically impossible to get an edge with arcade games? :) The odds are stacked in the house's favour...

Thanks Jeff. I didn't realise that but I won't be using the games any more...just a one off to use up the bonus. tbh i didn't even think i had won, it was only later on when i noticed it...and they are not getting it back!

No worries. :)

It's just one of the many ways in which Betfair has gone from being a refreshing alternative to the bookies to just another rip-off High St bookie...

I did well in the afternoon races but not very good in the evening races, A few times this has happened, i do ok up to about 5.30pm then suddenly i seem to make lots of bad trades. Not sure why this occurs but it does spoil an otherwise good day. Should I just stick to the afternoon races?... but it does seem odd.

Cheers guys.

Strange redtra, I have the opposite.. I don't know whether it's down to less traders in the markets but I've found it's easier to read in the evening. Lots of gambles going on etc. Odd that we have totally opposite experiences

That is odd L.o.s but it does indicate it is my trading that is at fault. I am going to try an experiment and not trade the afternoon races but just the evening. Maybe my approach changes after trading for a few hours or maybe I take chances in the evening. Thanks for letting me know of your own experiences. Hopefully this experiment will highlight any problem areas.
A lot is said about the mental aspect of trading, I think I am experiencing it first hand!

I am exact same and have decided it is not the afternoon versus the evening.. but the actual amount of time spent trading, that works/does not work for me, ie yesterday trading fine all afternoon then blew it and ended the day down...immediately stopped. reviewing I see this has happened before... ie maybe I can only be affective for a few hours, then it tails off. as a saturday is so big I try and plan it better ie get fed and watered and take several breaks around races I don't like during the afternoon; never make the saturday evening races as I prefer going to the pub by then.. ;)

That is interesting Groovyelms maybe the same happens to me. I remember after the first full days trading, I was so tired as if I had spent the whole day doing a tough physical job, and i slept very well that night. That could be it...lack of concentration. 2-3 hours could be my limit so that's another thing to try!
