I've done them since going back to 2019 and it's the same rate of decline.
Yes, sorry I forgot those graphs ... and yes, the decline is roughly equal. Interesting how the in-running volume increases in the jumps season ... longer races the cause?
Longer races and easier money. The winter races are more volatile due to the jeopardy. It only takes a good or poor jump and the punters/stoplossers overreact.
HI Shaun - what's a stoplosser?

It's true that fallers increase the jeopardy. But what receives less attention is that if you're backing a runner and there's a faller elsewhere in the market, then your trade is usually golden.

Someone who bangs in stop bets regardless of the price.

S'funny I was 'talking' to ChatGPT about that the other day and how in certain situations you can cheaply lay a horse out a number of ticks or to just over a key price, which them triggers a wave of panic stops pushing the price out even further to where its back value for you again. You can do similar in weak pre markets too. Chat didn't suggest it or initially agree but after explaining EV to it  we got there :)

It's not the fallers, it's the ones who just dip their nose in the mud then magically recover. :).

Uttoxeter, Fakenham and Haydock all abandoned today. Only Redcar left turf racing this afternoon, plus all-weather this evening at Dundalk and Newcastle.

Ascot should be interesting tomorrow.

I've just seen they've just moved three races from the outer track to the inner track which is currently good to soft/soft in places.

Hope the weather holds and it goes ahead.

I hope very much that it doesn't hold, we're not far from being underwater.

I've just read it back and realised I missed the word "off" out

Hope you don't get much more rain and remain dry. We've only had a bit of rain so far but the wind is horrendous. Were hardy souls in the north-east, keeping British racing going with Redcar & Newcastle both still on.

Frankie on for the 5 timer at Ascot

He's milked his retirement no doubt there, he's earned the right to but I genuinely hope it's not the last we see of him riding in England. He can still do the business.

One of them sportsmen who are irreplaceable, he has everything the ultimate showman.

Frankie gets a 1000 winner in the first and a 1.01 loser in the second!

100,000/1

I/we think it's 100,999/1 ;)

But in 'real' odds I'm going as short as 2,499/1  That 1.01 would have been 1.1 without you know who in the saddle and the 1000 more like 250 if it wasn't for punters who panic. ;) TBH I didn't see it but I can guess, it's usually a game of sadists vs masochits at the ends of the ladder.

I think Red Walls 17.40 Wolves will shorten in price a bit in running
I didnt do DOB but have placed back bet then layed at shorter odds

Only a tip from me
if you look at this race
https://www.sportinglife.com/racing/rac ... icap-div-2
It finished 3rd of 15 over 6f with a bad draw compared to the 1st and 2nd
The winner of that race
Flavius Titus runs tomorrow and is 4/1 second fav
