Not sure if this has been asked before

When a horse is withdrawn before the start

I know the " industry" have a % deduction on all bets
dependant on price

Therefore

If 3 horses each were in 3 different races e eg 1/1 evens , 4/1, 10/1

What would be the effect on all the other runners prices in race after a withdrawal?

It happened today and lots of times before

On the one-click screen you can add a custom column to display the reduction factors of each selection

Soz not explained by me

If a horse is 10/1 at the post/stalls and is withdrawn

Does every horse price depreciate by 10%?
or what ?

Betfair calculate their own 'reduction factor' based on the Exchange prices at the time the selection is withdrawn from the Betfair market. eg in the 17:50 at Newcastle the reduction factor of Ebury becoming a non-runner was 6.2%. This would affect any trades made before the time of reduction.

If a non-runner is not withdrawn by Betfair in time for the start of the race then any deduction will apply retrospectively to all trades matched before the off-time. There is no reduction factor on trades placed in-play. I've been screwed by this before, backing at 8, then laying at 7.6 just as a race went off, then having a retrospective reduction factor applied after the race which reduced my back return but not my lay loss.

The reduction factors can be shown in Bet Angel as Dallas describes above.

Maybe this will simplify

If any race at the post
race 1 a horse price was 10/1and fav was 1/1
race 2 a horse price was 5/1 fav was 1/1

what would be expected reduction in price of the 10/1 and 5/1
if fav withdraws ?

I will try to simplify more

If a horse 1 at evens is withdrawn at the stalls
How does that effect the stabilised prices of other horses ?
after withdrawal

horse 2 was 10/1
horse 3 was 4/1

14.7 How the Reductions are applied for Exchange markets
In the win market, reductions will be made on the traded price.
For example: if the non-runner's final reduction factor is 25% the traded price on all previously matched bets on other horses will be reduced by 25% - traded price of 8.0 would become 6.0 etc. And these might be further reduced if another horse is subsequently declared a non-runner.
In the EW Market, reductions will be made on the traded win price. The advertised place terms will then apply to the revised win prices.
For example: if the non-runner's final reduction factor is 25% the traded price on all previously matched bets on other horses will be reduced by 25% - - traded price of 8.0 would become 6.0. If the each Way terms were 1/5th odds for 3 places, the corresponding price for the Place portion of the bet would reduce from 2.4 to 2.0.
In the place market, reductions will be made to the potential winnings on the bet only, and not the traded price.
For example: if the non-runner's final reduction factor is 25% the potential winnings on all previously matched bets on the other horses will be reduced by 25% - a traded price of 8.0 would become 6.25. For example a £10 bet on a horse to be placed at a traded price of 8.0 would provide winnings of £70. If there is a non-runner with a reduction factor of 25% in the race, that factor will be applied to the £70 of potential winnings leaving potential winnings of £52.50. Therefore the revised traded price will be 6.25.
The traded price may be further reduced if any other horse(s) is subsequently declared a non-runner, however odds cannot be reduced below 1.01.

Nice of you to say. :)

The content of this forum is pretty good as long as you steer clear of the 'General Election' and 'Rant' threads. They certainly bring the tone down somewhat.

It's having an audience that does it, otherwise they'd PM.

But I think I'd have a Subcribers Only area for those. First impessions count and it could put people off who might otherwise browse around and decide to have a go. But it's quite literally none of our business :D

Not for me Shaun, I just simply click to respond to something good or bad. If someone says something in public you disagree with you must object in public or the post you think to be in error gets carried by the lack of anyone contesting it but I do agree it can get out of hand and boring to others! :)

Yeah it has nothing to do with the audience or showmanship etc, I don't know about you but Derek does it because he's bored out of his mind and loves a good back and forth.

It's certainly not because he loves the sound of his own keyboard :) But glad that's over with!

Except that most of the time they're just opinions or perspectives. How about rectifying all the erroneous information about trading there is on here? While you two were bickering you've got new people asking how to compound stakes..... Where's the fact vigilante then?

I guess I can't resist responding to something I heartily disagree with! :D
