The grader/handicapper set up/frame races in a way to give some greys a clearer chance of a win. They aim to grade a% of winning favourites on a card and over the course of the year. (They do it well)
They can also make, what look like errors. (they're only human) Hence "trapthegrader" if one stands out.
It's not a trading method, but can be potentially be made into one if the market moves in their favour.

With bots you really have to let them do their thing and hope any swings and roundabouts will even out as you should have sorted out max exposures already in the code.
