Unfortunetly Norman didn't make it and passed away earlier today.
I'm to young to remember him play but do have many stories from my dad (who was a Leeds Utd fan) about the type of player he was and the chants he used to get from the Leeds fans on the terraces
I was around 10 when he and Leeds winning trophies.Dallas wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 3:45 pmUnfortunetly Norman didn't make it and passed away earlier today.

He was part of a team I can remember names of without googling, Bremner, Reaney, Charlton, Lorrimar, Mick Jones, Allan Clarke, Sprake (ahem!!).
I was just beginning to wake up to the concept of tactics. Hunter was pivotal. An enforcer but he could play as well.
He wasn't alone in the 'bite your legs' department.
Bremner, Tommy Smith and latterly Keane, Viera et al.
Even though I was already a Red by then I remember his contribution to Leeds vividly.
He and they were very good.

Norman "bite your legs" Hunter as he was known. He would have had more England caps if it wasn't for the famous Bobby Moore in the same position. At the age of 22, was part of the 1966 World Cup winning squad.Dallas wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 3:45 pmUnfortunetly Norman didn't make it and passed away earlier today.

Nowadays, you-tube show more clips of the famous bust up of Norman Hunter v Francis Lee (Derby).

Hunter, Bremner, Stiles etc. they were known as "ball winners". That was their job ... win the ball. You don't see that nowadays it's been removed from the game partly by the changes in the way the rules are interpreted and partly by the overpaid pansy boys rolling around on the floor when a feather touches them.

I'd like to see Barrow back in, after 48 years out of the football league.Euler wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 1:20 pmThe national league season has ended: -

On a lighter note 2 more reasons to love Jurgen Klopp, he ignores pundits and he watches matches with no commentary!
I've said many times there really should be a red button option to turn off the commentary, good to see Jurgen agrees!
