I think the whole economy topic is off the table for everyone. With Brexit we might be £60bn better off, or £60bn worse off in 5 years time. It's a coin toss. Any projections are pretty meaningless.
You're brave dipping your toe in this forum

Tory majority @ 1.26 .... seems like value now to me. I guessed at a 49 seat maj a week ago. What do you all think?
I'm surprised Theresa May hasn't spoken of this, because she is being savaged for having reduced the police force by 20,000 when in Home Office, yet the reason for these cuts is because in 2010, Labour left us bankrupt........just like they did in 1979
They also gave 33,000 soldiers their P45's. Which I think they are going to need in the not too distant future. Army recruitment is well down and they haven't got the TA numbers either.
But then again, the compensation you get for losing a limb or your life has been slashed, not to mention the fact that you could end up in prison for shooting ones enemy.
If I was a young snapper then I wouldn't be joining up either these days.

If only there was a reason for it. The global economy looked so rosy in 2007/8.

Let's have a friendlier week eh LeTiss? I think the ref should hold both our arms up after this 12 rounder. Shake ?
Too much hate in the world for our pointless bickering, I like an agruement (really?) but I'd rather have a laugh.

In political correctness, the idea of 'tolerance' is basically a value or code of self-regulation which is based on race, and which states that white western people should in no way restrict or curb systems of belief (religions, ideologies etc) which belong to non-white people.EyePeaSea wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 6:30 am+1 to your comments on this thread Shaun.
Thank you, and the small number of others who have tried to bring some sense and perspective. All these events are so awful and tragic - the only way to put the brakes on this sort of thing is to stop encouraging division between people. Tolerance of others and an acceptance that others can be different or have some different views, is important.
That doesn't mean *any* personal view or behaviour is acceptable. But the people with truly wrong personal views is a minuscule minority. Concentrate on controlling and stopping those bad people, don't alienate an entire class of people for incorrectly perceived commonality with nut-cases.
Ideologies and religions are vehicles for the collective, emotional will of the people who adhere to them, (though they can also a means in controlling that collective will). When we talk about 'tolerance' we communicate a weak emotional will which is meant to be accommodating but which is obviously wide open to abuse/exploitation - i.e. it relies on that tolerance being reciprocated, otherwise the non-tolerant party has an easy route to gaining the whip hand.
Currently, (and given that ideologies can be morphed to fit whichever tribal, emotional disposition), there is CLEARLY a genocidal undercurrent of emotion among a sub-set of Muslims which is directed towards us (and against other Muslims).
These people are communicating that they want to slaughter all of us (and this is why statistics comparing terrorist deaths to motorcycle crashes are so facile - we are sensing a violent tribal threat coming from a different tribe, which has the potential to escalate).
So the structural problem with the idea of tolerance has been massively exposed by jihadism - foreign non-white ideologies will not necessarily reciprocate our 'tolerant' posture and so this posture is weak, rather than accommodating (or as well as accommodating).
I am not a fan of the politically-correct ideology of tolerance - I think it's naive John Lennon drivel - but in order for it to have any chance of sustaining itself, we must form allies with certain parts of the Muslim community (allied to us and loyal to us), and kick these people out.
So Donald Trump got to the core of it in his speech to the Saudis ("you have to kick these people out"), and he was actually making a very politically-correct statement, i.e. essential to the survival of this doctrine. I like him very much, he has an unbelievable talent for getting to the core of issues without caring what other people think (a trait I really value).

Remember this from 2011 ?...
"George Osborne last night dismissed Labour claims that a new, £75billion round of money printing by the Bank of England represents a ‘Plan B’ for the economy."
The Chancellor insisted instead it was an ‘appropriate tool’ given the gathering economic gloom."
There's not point printing more, it just ends up under billionaires mattresses. Send it out in tenners to us all and it might help.

Exactly - it ends up in a bank account in Gran Cayman, never to be seen again (i.e. exempt from tax). Terrible. Bring back the gold standard.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2017 3:41 pmRemember this from 2011 ?...
